Major Driveway Project, Opinions Please

Well, I have been on working on the driveway about 12 tractor hours now. For the most part I am cutting the sides down a bit and pulling material into the center then smoothing that out. Yes, adjusting blade slope and angle is an art to say the least, sometimes I get off and turn the center link 1/2 turn one way or another! I have used the rippers on the side a bit to loosen material(1 step down only). I managed to find the phone line as it was about 4 inches down at one spot! The tech has a driveway longer than mine and he was having it worked on now so he was very understanding. I won't know how much good I have done until I get a good rain, and **** we need one!

It was a nice overcast morning so I got another set of pictures shot and uploaded. I have put them in sequence so you can see the before and after from approximately the same viewpoints. Like any good advertiser, I made the after pictures look better! I welcome all suggestions.

Driveway looks great Don. Your a fast learner. You should be happy with your work. I like your before and after shots. Did you do it all with existing material or did you bring some in ? You might want to get it packed down best you can before any big rain. If you have a heavy dew or some sprinkles get out there with a car or truck and pack it. It will hold up to hard rain much better that way. One trick I use when I am done grading is I pack just the wheel rut locations then go over it again with the blade. I might do this a couple times. Then I pack the hole thing. This really helps to reduce the tendency for new wheel ruts to form on the new road.

The "Fast Learn" was from all the help I got here!

I am working on packing it down. We had a nice 1/3rd inch rain Saturday that helped. That wheel rut packing tip sounds great, esp. for some of these softer areas.
