(1) Excellent dealer - 2 miles away. (2) Past history of friends w/ Kubotas' (3) My own previous history. Oops, I'm in the Deere post also - different reasons. Well if anybody here wants to swap a L4240 for a JD 4120 I'll be all orange LOL! Is this offense similiar to breaking a pickett line ?

I hope not as we own Ford, Kubota, Case, Massey Ferguson and one JOHN DEERE:eek:

The Kubota I chose (B3030) has a stronger FEL and BH compared the JD offering. Kubota dealers were willing to deal but the JD dealers weren't.

The reliable part of jd went to Cub Cadet!

It was called Yanmar!!! Just ask Roy!

Now all that you have is expensive green paint!

Let the dandelions grow! You can hide a broken one easier!

Let's see if we can shake him up a little!
Troublemaker. :D

Hmmm... why did I buy a Kubota? I think all things considered (including a dealer motivated to makes deals and not play BS games), it was about the overall value.

I'm not impressed to pay for a "premium name" that trades a significant share of business on its own hype and rich history. The calf, she is fatted. At least when it comes to (S)CUTs, no, they sure don't make 'em like they used to. I don't really need to subsidize all of the extra corporate infrastructure and "frills" that many seem to enjoy, either.

Kubota doesn't pretend to be something it's not - WYSIWYG. It isn't someone else's Japanese tractor painted different colors, in "premium name" only.

Not knocking the equipment itself, that's not my point. At this level, I think all the equipment from the "big players" is pretty comparable quality.

:2cents:

Also, despite Roy's entourage of green toadies and straphangers, he doesn't really know everything. :p:laughing:

Hey there Art,

Your posts tend to be bland... you really oughtta try injecting a little passion from time to time.

I have no brand loyalty to any tractor company. Never owned one until my BX2660.

Its been my experience that JD owners have always touted (probably with good reason) JD's quality construction, knowledgeable service departments, and superior supply chain. Of course, when I started looking at tractors, I found out that Kubota owners brag about the same things.

Then I started noticing the farms I pass by every day on my way to work (40 minutes one way, all on country roads). I pass five with Kubotas of various sizes, one old blue tractor (Ford?), and one with an older MF and an old Ford. With all the Kubotas around at places where people actually make their livings with their tractors....got me thinking maybe there's a good reason. Kubotas aren't the cheapest on the market, so I didn't figure these folks were cutting corners just to save as much as possible.

The icing on the cake was actually talking with the dealers. The JD dealer didn't seem to want to be bothered with questions, and one of the first things out of his mouth was something along the lines of "you have to be prepared to spend green to get green". OOOOKAY. But you're going to need to convince me its worth it...which he didn't do. Kubota dealer...100% opposite. And I got more tractor for quite a bit less money, and from a company that has a good reputation.

IMHO:
(good tractor) + (good company) + (lower cost) = SMART BUYER

(good tractor) + (good company) + (more $ for green paint) = :ashamed:

Let the flaming commence...
