We have horses and a large Bank barn for storage. The small squares work very well for the horses but certainly are more labour intensive.

We also have horses, but I'm getting to the point that I don't want to wear myself out w/ small squares. That's why we've switched to 4x5 rolls fed from a Sioux Steel O'Neill Bale Feeder.

Cool feeder, but for me, at this point its sm squares for these reasons:

1) my wife does the feeding and doesnt like using a Tractor, she's happy to lug a sm square bale from the barn
2) I hate having round bales outside
3) we have Icelandic Horses and they eat like pigs. we have to regulat their intake and Sm Squares are a good way to do that in the winter (Grazing Muzzles inthe summer)

I probably should of worded it differently as bucking bales stacking and such was what I did and the truck beds were all about shoulder high. We got to use a farmer's hay wagon a couple of times and thought we were in tall cotton so to speak.

You have probably rode a load of bales down too when someone didn't stack them tight enough.

Working in the hills was the hardest, chasing the truck and throwing uphill. Good times.

Yep - same here ..the trucks we loaded were flat beds shoulder high and yes a couple of times I have ridden a load of bales down that were not properly stacked and that happens when you thought you had finished and now off the truck and re-stack...Uggg...but yes those were still real good times..

Personally I thought the running into the lake after bailing was the "Good Times" part.

That was the best part, however, for us it was a pond on the farm. Ken Sweet

We did that too...amazing how that goes...all the same experiences..except for the ones with no pond or lake

Sure wish we had something to run into at the "end of the day", but our day didn't end until pretty late at night or sometimes the next morning.

Did I mention my walk to school in the snow:)

up hill in both directions ?

I am not exaggerating, I was 6 years old and walked 1 mile across the fields to the bus stop. Rain, snow, hot or cold and with the cows and bull in the fields. Needless to say, I walked close to the fence, in case, I had to make a escape from the cantankerous bull. Ken Sweet
