I would run a 4 footer if you are mowing thicker grass. 5 footer in thinner/shorter grass. the difference between the two brands (kingKutter vs. Woods) isnt much. Yeah, they both will claim that they have the better product so get what you think is best.

Have you considered a Woods RC54? My Ford 1510 is only 22 hp (19.5 PTO) and it does a great job with it. I wanted something that would "cover my tracks" without breaking my tractor, and I felt this was a good crossover size for tractors in this size range.

Absolutely correct, IMHO, on both counts... The 2320 will handle a 5 foot cutter for most applications, but speed will have to be reduced in taller/heavier areas. The LX5 is a superior cutter to both the TSC and Frontier units - but also was much more expensive - and hard to justify behind a 2320 or even a 2520... Of course boughtaJD was lucky enough to find a good used one!

I'm not sure. Hit the wrong thing and you could brake something in the 3PH.
It's only rated about 1200# at the arms and when you factor in the weight 2-1/2 feet past the arms a 600# hog exceeds the specs. I had a 5 foot Woods HC60 (about 640#) on my 2720 and I was very careful using it on my grass fields even with no real brush.

will the 2320 handle a 5 footer or do I need to get the 4 footer....the dealer is telling me not to get the king kutter from tsc because the (his)frontiers are heavier made....someone point me in the right direction please...lol

I think a 2320 is best matched with a 4ft RRC (bush hog) and 5 ft RFM.

just got back from the dealer and he priced me a 4ft frontier with slip clutch and safety chains for 1500 new.....think I may go this rout....I think the 5 ft would be harder on the tractor and not worth the risk for the extra foot of cutting.....thanks for the help guys and keep the advice coming...I really appreciate it since this will be an investment for me and my family...

That seems alittle high for a 4' mower. you dont realy need a slip clutch with a 4' mower and u have to make shure you slip it over atleast twice a year to keep it from rusting up. Just a helpful thought.

But it matches the tractor...LOL......the frontier 5ft was 2400 and 4ft was 1500...big price difference between them..

Actually Rob if you go to the JD spec sheet, the LX5 HP rating says "Minimum 18HP" and the cutter weighs in at 520lbs, so it's right in line with a 2320 when used properly. I, for example make sure that it doesn't bounce around on the 3 point and use the transport wheel to take some weight off.

Although I did see in the Frontier specs that JD upped the HP rating to 20 for the RC 2060 since it weighs a whole 70lbs more.......

2320 will cut grass ok with a 5 footer.
I just took the 4 footer off of my 2520, and bought a 5 foot flail. It handles the 5 footer easy in 2 foot grass, but I've been cutting 5 foot tall river-bottom grass, and you definatly have to slow down, so your 2320 would really be short on power there.

The 5 foot is ALOT heavier on the 3point that that pee-wee 4 footer was!
