I recently replaced the hydraulic pump due to cracked housing. I also replaced the filter obtained from Hoye.
Now the 3pt will not operate in either direction. While the tractor is running I can manual lift the 3pt with no resistance.
The UFO is not connected other then the small joystick for controlling the 3pt. It operated correctly until now.
Other than the filter I don't believe there is a screen to clean for this model.

Since I can lift the 3pt manually does anyone think the problem is mechanical vs. hydraulic?

I openned the Relief Valve & removed the Stop Valve. In both cases hydraulic fluid flowed.

Any suggestions?

BTW: Has anyone ever translated the Japanese on the UFO unit?

"I openned the Relief Valve & removed the Stop Valve. In both cases hydraulic fluid flowed."

Did it flow, or did it spew, under 2500 psi pressure? I believe all Yanmars have a hydraulic pickup screen.

It came out with high pressure from the relief valve. I had to catch the internal part in a cup. From the stop valve it just ran out, I didn't have the tractor turned on.
The only wiring active from the UFO are the wires from the joystick to the control valve solenoid that is attached to the hydraulic clyinder case.

So you still don't know if the pump is pumping.

Sorry I didn't respond very clearly. After I removed the pressure relief valve I did start the tractor and the hydoil squirted out under pressure.
I openned the stop valve after I turned the tractor off and since oil flowed out I didn't think to try it turned on.
I do believe the new pump is working.

Can you drive it??? ie I had a similar problem, only the clutches weren't operating either. I found a ten amp glass fuse blown. The fuse is an inline fuse holder type under the metal covers beneath the drivers seat.
Still to this day haven't found why mine blew, but the fuse is in line with the hydraulic solenoid circuits.

There is a hydraulic screen in the transmission of your F235.

Thanks John & Danny,

I will check for an in-line fuse between the joystick & solenoid wiring.

I found in the Hoye parts catalog a screen they had referenced as an oil screen. It showed as being in the transmission case so I guess I was wrong in assuming it was for motor oil , my bad! I will be checking it tonight.

Harry,
Check the ground wire that comes from the control wires to the solenoid,
it bolts on the fender, make sure it has a good connection.

Also you can manually push a button on the ends of the solenoid, they are covered by rubber caps, there is one on each end of it.

Sometimes it will help the 3 point to purge , and start working again.

There is an internal fuse to the unit, but you have to remove the metal inner side plate to see it, or remove a black plastic cover on the end of the control panel, toward the rear.

There are 2 kinds of ufo controls for the F235.

Thanks Ernie, it looks like you were up late last night on TractorByNet; don't you have a life or something better to do?:D

My UFO was never connected other than the 3pt joystick. I think I would like to use the leveling function. Can you sell me an intact UFO control unit? How can I determine which setup my tractor has?
