So this old guy drops off this old rake or what ever it's called and says that he had a fellow do a repair to the top of it and he hated the job and asked me if i could do something with it. I felt bad for the old guy so I said I'd try.

Seeing there were a few different stages to this little project I thought some of you might enjoy seeing the process to do it. The first thing I had to do was to modify my torch circle cutting attachment so It would fit the plasma and it worked great. I think the worst part was removing the old stuff that was there. :(

Here you go. If you have any questions I'll answer them. I always like to include a pic of the welds which is included as well. Hope you don't find this to boring. :ashamed:

Ok, so what's the big deal here. This is a usual "farm" repair job. I see them all the time. Actually this one is pretty good, the welds held past the gate.:laughing: This looks like it's from the Old (careful how you say that) guys tedder. They are used to fluff up the hay so it will dry faster.

Isn't that always the way. You need to do something but first the whatever isn't set up quite right. It doesn't seem to matter how big the shop or how many tools this seems to be another of Murphy's Principles.

I never comment on other peoples welds. That way they can't comment on mine. I do like the quote I saw on another post somewhere. A good welder uses the grinder before he welds. A bad welder uses it after..........My dad woudl have liked that one......it's so true.

Keep the pics coming Paul. Always enjoy seeing what you are up to.
Oh the 10.9 grade bolts broke on the other side of the tractor so now I am really in a fix to get this thing repaired. New bolts are on order. I will have an update to the post as I have a couple of thoughts about they way the mounted the loader to the tractor and I'd like some opinions.

Glenn.

The last one!

Really nice work. Better than factory. Gotta love that ring roller.
Did you punch the holes with the iron worker?

Oh man that's too bad. Sorry to hear you broke the other ones. If you need those bolt extractors I have let me know and I'll send them to you and when your finished with them just send them back if you like. I'm always around if you need an opinion.

Thanks Glenn. The old guy should like it. I hope he will anyway. The ring roller is a great tool. Couldn't have done it without it.

No I just drilled the holes. I got lazy and didn't want to change over the punches. The one that's in the unit now will be punching 60 holes tomorrow.

Thanks for you comments buddy

Very, I say, very nice work Paul! Did I say nice work Paul?:D

 Thanks Jay. I know it's not much of a job to report on but it's something to post. Saturday I'll be heading out with the mobile unit to a farm so I'll post some pics of the trip.

Here's some more of today's work.
