I broke the rear PTO cover on my BX25. In replacing the cover I can't get the main drive shaft which turns the gear with the splines to go back in the case. It came out a little ways when removing the case. It need to move in about 1/2 inch. Do I need to disingage something to get this shaft to slide forward. It seems like a spline is not lining up but I have turned it with no success. The case installation looks simple but it has just about got me whipped.

Thanks Larry Mac

what is the pto selector on? try moving it to MMM only so the rear pto spins freely so you can turn by hand. hope this helps.

unfornuately I do not. If I had a WSM (work shop manual) I'd be able to take a peek and look for ideas. In short- it looks like a teardown at this point if a call to the dealer for ideas doesnt work?

I guess nobody else has come across this problem. I am going to order a work shop manual and see what I find out.

Thanks

Finally success!!! I called several Kubota dealers in our area and they all said it should just slip right in. Well let me tell you that wasn't the case. After about 2 hours of trying to get it to slip in and getting zero success I knew I had to do something different. I took a piece of metal about 3/4 inch wide and 14 inches long and slid it umder the gear that is about 6 inches back into the case. After raising it up and down while I jiggled the shaft it finally slid together. I was one happy camper! I still have a shop and parts manual on order.
