My best friend and I bought this BobCat 743 "Man's Toy" (as my wife calls it) to rebuild and use (play with) when needed. Anyway what I am interested in finding out right now is about the teeth on the bucket. I'm putting new teeth on now and find that some of the old teeth are held on with standard roll pins and some are held with what I've heard called "spiral pins". So I thought rather than go the trail and error way, I'd just ask you folks which is better to use in this case. Thanks for any help,,,,Chuck

There are MANY different styles of teeth/shanks, as well as ways to hold them in place...Posting some pictures of what you have will help us help you;)

Spiral pins are what Bobcat uses. I can't imagine a standard roll pin holding up for long. I would put spiral pins back in it, and I have found that Bobcat teeth hold up better than cheap aftermarket teeth.

Dear Chucknsc, as you mentioned there are several types of pins for the teeth. Kindly ask you to contact AES Trading Tristars Tecnical Department. Our team will be appreciated to assist you. Pls visit our website Bucket Teeth in order get further details of pins & retainers for bucket teeth, ground engaging tools, cutting edges and blades .
Best regards,

spiral pins fit into later generation bobcat teeth and hold-up well. older-stock teeth use roll pins, spirals won't fit into these teeth. for a skid steer both will work fine and if you're concerned about the roll pin shearing, insert a welding rod into the hollow of the pin before driving it home. gives it just enough strength to not shear-off under heavy work conditions.
