Synthetic Oil for Motor?

I plan on purchasing a DK45HSTC in the next year or 2 - location, near Parry Sound Ont - cold winters. I presently own a 2002 VW Jetta with 330,000 km & a 25 year old 12kw Deutz diesel generator both of which use Mobil Delvac 1 - a 5W40 synthetic. I'd like to use the same in my future tractor to keep my oil inventory to a minimum. Anybody use Delvac 1?

I've used the Rotella T synthetic 5W-40 from my first change at 50 hours on my CK30hst. I took the advice from DK35Vince. We have similar weather. The tractor starts easy on those 10" days and runs fine in the Summer heat.

I've run RedLine 15/40 Synthectic in my CK30 since the first oil change with no issues and I work it hard during the "mowing season", anywhere from 6 - 12 hours a day, 5 - 7 days aweek and I've never even had to add between changes which adverages about 250 - 300 hrs.

I've also used Rotella 5w40 synthetic for years in my turbo DK50C and have never had an issue hot or freezing cold weather. I buy it at Wal-Mart they seemto be a couple dollars cheaper than the discount auto stores.

Your Rotella "synthetic" isn't really much of a synthetic anyway. Read up on it. It is just hydrocracked enough to be called a synthetic for those who want the word "synthetic" in their oil. I'd either stick with your Rotella, use Delvac or, if you want synthetic, go with a real synthetic oil later on. I see zero gain going with Rotella "synthetic" over standard Rotella.

Deere Plus-50 II Premium Engine Oil suggest up to 500hrs drain intervals. it takes me a while to get 500hrs on a machine. I plan following the manual for my Kioti and on my other tractors I usally change at 100hrs. Here is a good site for info on tractor oils. CountryMark

Their refinery is right down the highway from me a few miles. It's the only fuel and oil you'll buy that is guaranteed to be made from oil pumped from under your feet here in the U.S. Their trucks are all around filling crude from oil wells from all around southern IN and southern IL. One thing I really like is that their gas isn't mixed with alcohol (at least at their station about a mile from my house). I don't care what you are told, alcohol in your fuel will result in worse fuel economy and will quickly degrade all rubber and plastic parts that it touches. We have people come from 20 or 30 miles away to that station just for their "pure" gasoline". I'm told that the 'e10' (generally tests 'e15') is particularly hard on smaller engines. I don't work for them, don't have stock in them and don't even know anyone who works for them, but I'd suggest patronizing them.
