It's nice to hear that you are impressed by this machine. Obviously, you underestimated what it could do. What many people fail to understand is that the 600, 6000 and 7000 Series loaders and loader/backhoes are far from being some sort of toy. It is my understanding that the Racine engineering group that was responsible for the amazing 580/680/780 Construction King tractor/loader/backhoe models, designed the first 600's and then Winneconne engineers continued with the same design principles.
Prior to the advent of the mini-excavators, these tractors were often used to dig graves in the areas of the cemetery where a full-size backhoe could not operate without causing damage. Contractors also took them inside commercial and industrial buildings to trench for sewage lines. If there was need for an excavator to perform in tight locations, these models shine. Today, they still work well but the tracked mini-excavators will do the job faster, due to the 360 degree slewing they have. Combine a mini-ex with a tracked skid-steer and you have an amazing team but it takes two operators and a lot more money to do the same work.
However, productivity is the key and the mini-ex and skid-steer combo will deliver that in spades. But for some people, these compact loader/hoes still crank out a lot of work in one day.
