They had about 10 bales lined up and a ratchet strap around them to pull them together then one on each end fished between the boards to hold them down to the trailer

Have some fire extinguishers handy...it only takes one piece of straw to get caught in a hub and start throwing sparks...and that's the one thing you don't want with a trailer of loose hay...

also...some tractor tires can throw rocks up high enough to fall back into some trailers...

be safe...have fun!

We offer this up every year. It's a lot of fun. I do bushhog the around the property to make sure I don't have any surprises when the rides start.

My homeowners covers liability.

Well, thanks everyone. The hayride was the hit of the party. I spread hay in the bottom of the trailer and put a row on bails down the center. It was perfect.

I did a similar side with extended family,(mostly kids) , the past few summers. They ask for a ride and seem to really enjoy it. Good to hear that you did the ride even though some feel the risks are too great.

Wife said the best hay rides are with a horse or 2 pulling the hay wagon on private property:
very low noise, slow speed/low danger, and probably max fun.
Least that is what she said! I kinda have to agree with her.

Glad to hear all went well. There was a hayrack ride near an Amish community here in central Kansas last week that ended in tragedy. Four teenagers RIDING IN THE BUCKET fell out and were run over by the tractor with one death and the others injured.

Riding in the bucket???????????? Go slow - be safe -have fun - but riding in a bucket is a disaster in the making.
