I have a m4900 50 hp tractor with a 6' box blade. I cannot use this piece of equiptment. What is the secret? When I attempt to use it it barely scrapes the top of the dirt. I am in deep sand so I thought I should be able to level out some ruts and mild depressions. What hole do you put the top link in and should I be in float for the depth .

Adjusting the length of the toplink is paramount to successful boxblade operation...

Before I got my hydraulic toplink I spent a great deal of time out of the seat manually adjusting (lengthening/shortening the toplink) the cutting angle

Check out the available videos on the subject in the "attachments" forum...

The hole the top link is in is not that important. It is the length of the top link that matters. Shorter = more dig.

Lengthening the top link will cause the rear blade (if there is one) to slide along the ground and smooth things out on a final pass but the front blade will be off the ground and not cutting or digging at all. That may be what you are experiencing.

Keep adjusting the top link shorter until material starts to accumulate in the box. With sand or sandy soil it should be easy to do.

The 3 PH should be all the way down or in "float" mode.

As /pine says, a Top & Tilt works wonders with a box blade. One pays a hefty price for it though with the extra remotes and hardware.

This video should help.
