I have a 4 year old Kubota L4400 with 330 hours. Over the last few weeks I have noticed a large drop in power when going up any incline. I have to shift to a low gear or the tractor will come to a complete stop. I cleaned the air filter, that didn't help. I replaced the air filters, that didn't help. I cleaned the fuel filter, which did have some gunk on it, that didn't help. I suppose I can replace the filter but it looks quite good and I suspect that won't make a difference. Is there anything else it could be? Can it be within the engine itself.? I should also note that in the spring, after researching it, I started to use #2 heating oil in the tractor, without any problems. Could that have something to do with it? Any help would be appreciated.

At 330 hours there shouldnt be anything wrong with in the engine.

If It were me, I'd drain the fuel system completely, make sure there is no gunk in the lines, REPLACE the fuel filter, and put sone fresh fuel in and give it a try. If that don't help, it is possible that your injectors may be plugged up a bit.

How would I clean the injectors

I would try some Lucas injector cleaner. Just add to your fuel. You can buy it at auto parts stores.I would also put in a NEW fuel filter. Good luck.

When was the last fuel filter replaced? If it were mine and the fuel filter wasn't replaced recently I would change it and not add anything else and see what changes. At 330 hours your injectors should be fine unless you never load the engine. Do you have any abnormal smoke, white smoke at start up, blue while operating?

replace fuel filter, replace fuel filter, replace fuel filter... had similar problem, traced it to fuel filter ..water absorption restricts flow.;)

I replaced the fuel filter and drained the lines and put new fuel in, no help. I spoke with the dealer who said that maybe the clutch is slipping. I noticed the clutch pedal was tight and did not have any slack when pushed down. I loosened the rod to the factor specs. It is a bit better but still not right, so I am thinking it does have something to do with the clutch. Are there any other adjustments if it is "slipping"?

The exhaust is fine, clear smoke.

He also mentioned using an additive- Power Service, but why would I suddenly need that now?

does the engine bog when you go up a hill or does the engine maintain RPM and the tractor just slows????

If the engine bogs, the clutch is fine.

If the engine continues reving like on level ground, but the tractor slows considerably, then the clutch would be slipping.

How many hours do you have???

My tractor has a valve that is opened to exhaust air in the lines following filter replacement, etc..... if somehow it got opened accidentally, or left open, which I did once, it seemed to loose power but still ran.... might be worth a double check. The valve should be closed after air is exhausted from fuel lines.
