Got this from a friend.... FYI T

Hi all

This is to all of you that use the XP operating system. IE-9 is in beta right now and will be out soon BUT if you use anything actually other then Windows 7 it WONT WORK. You have to stay with IE-8. I downloaded IE-9 and a few others I know did too, and it will lock up your internet. So either stay with IE-8 or best thing change to Firefox.

I won't leave IE 7 :)

Thanks for the tip-off.

I'm using Vista and just loaded IE-9. It seems like there are improvements, but I sure can't find my favorites. IE-8 tends to lock up and shut down, so I'm a bit fed up over all their upgrades. Over all, I'm not impressed by Microsoft anymore. I use FireFox and it works great. You might want to try Google Chrome also. Its pretty reliable.

I'm running IE8 on Windows 7 pro..Never had a problem or a virus..Seems that IE 8 is designed to run on 7. I personally couldn't be happier. Massive improvement over XP,.

I'm running IE-7 on Vista and haven't seen any reason to change.

Can't stand IE, use it only if forced - like by morons who design web pages only for IE.

My very first experience with the Internet was with Netscape because that's what my first ISP provided and recommended. Otherwise, I've never used anything but IE (and you might think I'm a moron, but I sure don't design web pages:laughing:). I see so many comments about how bad IE isand how great Firefox is, but what I don't see is WHY. What makes the others better? Or is it just that IE is so much bigger than the others that it makes IE a target?

DISCLAIMER: I use Firefox whenever possible and am not a IE fan.
IE is integrated into Windows very tightly, which makes it more of a target. Additionally is uses ActiveX which hasn't been overly secure. The combination of those two makes it less secure then other browsers.

IE 8 is catching up with Firefox very quickly and it should be interesting to see how IE 9 turns out. IE8 made some large gains in security, it should be interesting to see how IE 9 does in that department

As for why Firefox is better, this I can tell you in one word: "Addons" there are literally thousands of addons (tools that can be integrated with Firefox to make it do more things) to block ads, let you upload photos, download the videos from a webpage and do many other things. That makes Firefox very flexible and hard to beat IMO.

I'm a guy who works in IT and I actually am running the BETA of IE9 right now. I have a Windows 7 Pro for my OS. The IE9 BETA is actually pretty stable and no more quirkier than the others. I honestly thinl that every browser has their own quirks. It's just a matter of preference. The mac guy's will use Safari, The linux will use firefox. Internet explorer is the most popular because that is what Micrsoft pushes out with every OS license they sell. I remember the good ole' days of Netscape. Wow that seems like such a long time ago.
