Sprayer?

My 12v pump has been working fine for going on 16 years now. Pump an average of 500 gal of spray a year (at least 2 if not three times a year on 10 acres of lawn). It does have a return line and I only run 12-15 psi pressure in four spray heads (have a spot wand too). Maybe I'm just lucky, but this Shurflo pump sure doesn't owe me anything.

Sorry to hear yours burned up fast. Hope that isn't the norm.

Blue 55 g drum with a shur flo pump and a coily garden hose. Car battery.
Generic roundup is about $40 for 5 gallons. One of those in the drum takes care of just about anything.

Can you post a link as to where I can buy this 5 gallons of generic roundup for $40?
Thanks:confused:

I fill my sprayer to 14 gallons (+/-) and use about half of the tank using four nozzles to spray the "right" side my driveway (6' wide) then turn around and use the rest to go the other direction. Which works out to be about 14 gallons per acre.

I have the pressure set pretty low (20psi??) and drive about 2.5 - 3 mph in Med. range - which might be fast for the woods... I built my first sprayer with an electric pump... forgot to drain it, so it froze and cracked. Have a pto pump now and it's (maybe) too big for the job.

Oops, my math was a little off. It's $32.99 for a 2.5 gallon container from Rural King. That's who I got it from last time. I got two jugs, so I thought the 32.99 was for the 5 gallons. Oh well. Anyway Rural King also has a 15 gallon barrel for 165 clams. That's a pretty good deal.

If you buy 2 they knock off another 4 bucks. I would check your local suppliers first, as shipping can be expensive. Patent on Roundup ran out several years ago, thus the generics.

It's about a 3/4 mile long that I spray... I don't own it all. 6' x 2 (out & back) x 3960 (5280' x 0.75) = 47,520 ft2 (divided by 43560 ft2) 1.09 acres. Actually, this was more with the electric sprayer I had... with the pto pump, I do have some left over in the tank. I need to calibrate it better...

For the OP fence line, say you want to kill a 3 foot wide path?? by 3/4 mile, or 11880 ft2. About 0.27 acres. Since it's going to be over grown, he might want to use a sprayer that puts out ~25-30 gallons per acres, so he'll need at least 6.8-8.2 gallons.

Usually, people want to soak the brush and put out way more then is needed.

I am sure it is covered by the 'it depends' clause ;) The pump on my 15 gal spot sprayer is pretty small. On the other hand my 30gal tow behind (which I picked up after burning up my small sprayer pump) has a much larger pump with better output capacity for boom spraying. Both are Shur-flo pumps.

Tower 59:

Be very careful as here in Texas there are pretty heavily enforced laws about spraying. If you going to spray with anything but a very small sprayer you will need a license to do it. Wind drift and types of chemicals used are high on the sprayer police's list.
When you go to TSC or other places that supply concentrated spray you will be asked for your license if you want to buy more that a quart at a time.

Just thought you might like to know.
