I have a tractor about the same size as yours. I am considering a CCM SR 185 sold by CCM Machinery. I have heard good things about them. Weighs over 1000 lbs and has a high rating on its gearbox.

What is the country of origin of those tillers? Ken Sweet

The CCM are made in Turkey. The nurseries around McMinnville TN use them and they are VERY tough on equipment. I've not had any firsthand experiance with them myself.

I've used a discontinued JD 660 for 12 years here without any hiccups. Its 700 pounds of fine German steel. I like the foward roatation of of the tines. I think it kills the weeds better with a downward chopping action than the lifting action of the CRT tillers tines. I also think the foward rotation jumps over roots/rocks better and has a horse power advantage as its action is pushing the tractor foward instead of trying to hold the tractor back. If your tilling deep in heavy soil a tiller EATS horsepower. Three inches of loam not so much. I think the CRT tillers are just a fad, like hydrostatic transmissions........:p

I was wondering if Turkey is basically a Islamic country or is it more like the rest of the European Union? Ken Sweet

Wow, tillers from Turkey, tillers from Italy, tillers from China.....what's an American supposed to do? Seriously, Ken, what are the specifics of this Phoenix tiller?? I don't see too much about it on your website. Like most of us, i just want to choose the best tiller for the buck, but one that will hold up to a higher hp tractor. Tell us more about the one you have and compare it to some of the others (such as landpride, CCM, etc.) What do you think about reverse rotation?

I have a link below, to the website, where you may read up on Phoenix Roto Tillers. Reverse rotation is fine as long as you have no rocks or roots to hang up on. If they catch a root, they will try to suck the tiller into the ground and slip out the clutch, Hopefully!! Ken Sweet

Thanks Ken. I looked at your link. THe tiller you quoted is which series in that website? I see 15, 20 , 25 series, etc. What is the gearbox rating of that tiller you mentioned previously, and which one is it in the link? Thanks.

Thank you for all the assistance. If we go Phoenix - we're leaning towards the T15-72GE. We're waiting for a quote on the RTA35. Once I can compare those two - I'm gonna start looking for price quotes on the others mentioned. It is perfect weather to work outdoors - 65 in the morning - mid 80's during the day. Of course I have a/c in my cab - so it's always the perfect temp for me :-0)
