i plowed my driveway for over 10 years on a jd770 with the bucket. i don't care how much you love your tractor - it's cold out there in january - especially if you have to plow in the middle of the storm. this one is much warmer :D

Yeah, I don't see how Buffalo got it's reputation for being snowy. I moved here three years ago and it is not at all outstanding in the snow department.

Power king with 4ft plow, small 22" snowblower and a shovel.
Tucker

Actually, the snowbelt is south of Buffalo (Erie, PA to Westfield, NY area) which gets that lake affect snow.
However, Buffalo did get 7' (yes, 7 FEET) in one week several years ago.

Do you ever put chains on the rear tires?
And I agree....as long as you get out early enough (8" or less), a pickup or small dump with a plow is the way to go. Not as much fun as a tractor, but more practical.

Certain parts of Buffalo get hit pretty hard with lake effect, as well as a bunch of the suburbs. I lived in the area for a little over a year and the area primarily affected by lake effect snow were referred to as the South Towns, referring of course to South of Lake Erie. I remember when a difference of about two miles meant the difference between 4 inches and 30 inches of snow. Of course since I got back into snowmobiling though, it doesn't snow any more in NY.:D:confused2:

I remember hearing about that storm on the news.
It is impressive the difference in snow quantity between downtown buffalo and the Southtowns.

Ok, now we can get back to "Pictures of snow weapons"

What I use for a 400 ft. uphill driveway. I also have a plow that attaches to the loader for lighter snow and the blower is for the heavier stuff and to reduce the piles left by the plow.

A serious attachment!

rekees4300 - Yes, it is a serious attachment. It takes all of 4 to 5 minutes to install; maybe 1 and 1/2 minutes to uninstall. My drive is 250 feet long and double wide. It takes about 10 minutes to clear the entire thing depending on snow density of course. The heavy wet stuff requires slower ground speed. If it's a nice dry fluffy snow, that stuff doesn't have a chance. I also clear a couple of neighbors yards; one is physically unable to move the snow himself and the other is an elderly couple. Neither one can afford to hire anyone and I would never take money from someone who needs it for food or meds. They range from 200 feet for one of them to 350 for the other. Thankfully, like mine, the drives are paved.

I parked my plow truck last winter, the snow gets too deep and then no where to push it. This is what we use now and it's great.

Roger good for you helping out your neighbors. I have a rear 64" Frontier blower on order that should arrive any day now. Will post picture. Driveway is 900 feet, narrow, and gravel. Been using front blade for several years. It works okay until heavy snow then it builds up on the sides with no place to push it. Hopefully the blower will solve the problem.
