a few weeks after i bought my 4310 i bought the shop manual on cd

this was in 2004, recently i had drive controller problems with my 4310 and found the wiring on the tractor didn't match the manual as it seems changes were made not reflected in the manual.

i asked deere for an updated manual for my tractor and it appears that deere has decided i have to buy one

i didn't get what i paid for, i paid for a manual to work on my tractor and that's not what i got.

i'm not a happy camper at this time

I have bought including tractor a total of $34,625.52 from **** and they wont make good on the manual?

Seems I read your rant already in another post? I think this has happened to all of us, I have not found a way around it. Of course, like you, most of us may not need to use the manuals until there is an issue, often past the time the vendor would do anything about it.

Agree. Often I wonder if they even have a manual that covers the changes made? Does the service dept at your dealer have the correct manual?

they gave me a mountain of print outs very little to do with my problem

i probably know more about it now than they do

it wound up being a bad drive controller another $560

Sometimes service manuals are serial number dependent for the same model tractor. Or, more recently I bought a service manual ($90) which had an addendum ($12) for different serial number ranges. Maybe you just need the addendum.

I had the same problem with the dealership here. They did not want to work on the computer part of the tractor. I attributed it to a poor dealer not John Deere producing a poor product. When you bought your manual you got what you paid for. The most up to date product they had. 6 years later they have updated it.

You are the first drive controller actually being bad on here in all the time I have been a part of the forum. That does nothing for you but it is RARE to have a controller failure. I have had to adjust potentiometer on the throttle and even that is rare (I remember 1 other off the top of my head). Everyone here is willing to help. Some times we are not as fast on the relies as someone with a tractor problem would like. I have been there before myself.

Not sure what is is with JD and manuals. My new 4105 never even came with one. I did finally get it 2 months later. Thank god they had the online version :confused2:
