When this first came up all the bars and restaurants were going to go out of business.

In fact, most are doing better than ever.

i have to agree with that. plus its a much more enjoyable experience all around.

We the people own the post office, WE have NO claim to a private business.
I gotta ask... when you were carded for the liquid nails, was it because of a law or because of a store policy?

I quess a legal activity for society would be the right of everyone.

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.

A right is something you are born with, and you will
die with, granted to you by your "Creator" (whatever you
imagine He/She/It/Them to be). A privilege is granted to
you by the King, General, Church, or the State, and may be
revoked at any time, if one loses favor. This is usually
caused by a failure "consider the king", a failure to pay
the "royalty", tax, indulgence, tithe, license fee, etc.

So-called "Civil Rights" are by definition, conveyed by
positive law, and thus are more akin to privileges than
to natural rights. So-called "Civil Liberties" are by
definition natural immunities to government interference,
and are thus are more akin to proper natural rights.

Rights exist before, and are thus superior to, privileges.

Smoking, while legal, is not a "right" nor is it the "right" of smokers to practice their habit with disregard for others.

CinderSchnauzer - I see it a little differently...When you are born as long as it was before about 1972 , you had the right to life...period...Now you really don't seem to even have a right to be born...not really , Society has taken that right away for many, so how can you suggest a person has any rights anymore other than what you call - Privileges granted to them by the Society in power at the time of their birth, if they should be allowed to be born. The Bill of Rights and Constitution as well as all Laws...are written by the Society in power. Just my view.

Once born we have to fight for our rights !

The cashier told me it was law. I have bought many tubes of liquid nails before and never had an issue, different city though. It may just be that cities law{???} but once something like this starts it has a way of growing to other areas. MossRoad I know ID'ing is a small issue and isn't that big a deal, but it is still plain foolish and did nothing to stop a minor nor a substance abuser from misusing the product.

20-20 - Here is another law I think is Foolish....The other day I went to Sams Club at 7:00 AM - They open early for Business Members...I bought what I needed plus a bottle of wine and when I was checking out at about 7:30 AM the cashier tried to ring up the small bottle of wine....and said sorry you can't buy the wine until 8:00 AM --to which I said ..why not ? She said it was the law but I could walk around the store for 30 minutes...I told her I would pass on the wine to just keep it, checked out and went on my way...My Mrs. was not too happy since it was for a dinner party so I had to stop on the way home and buy it....See that is just a stupid law...Sams opens at 7:00 AM for business customers...go figure...????

I agree, that's why I keep saying private business, no different then private home.

What do you think about adult places, stores, strip joints, etc...? I may not like ____ doing ____ to someone so it is my choice whether to visit/work the private{legal} business where this happens. My question is, should we have the right to tell others what they can or can not do{legally} on their private land, business, home?

Lets face it there are way worse things in this world that cause health issue other then smoking, just take fast for instance. There are WAY worse{more dangerous} jobs other then working in a smokey bar, running machinery for example. I just feel the complaint about ____ can't work in a bar because of the dangers of smoke is VERY lame. This was nothing more then a control policy, once the powers to be are done with smokers they'll start on the next thing and on and on and on, heck they've allready started on soft drinks in this state.

Brin I have had that happen, never did make any sense, but you know how those winos and kids are, they're up at the crack of dawn getting their fix. You know what I just figured out, The substance abuser minors and winos, can't get their fix from sams club before 8:00 so they've switched over to liquid nails from HD

I wonder if everyone is getting ID'd buying liquid nails or was it special for you? Have some fun and go in with some friends or family, each checkout with one tube of liquid nails, different cashiers and see how many get carded. After the test, just go back in the entrance and get a refund.

Try another store in the same city and see if it is everywhere or not.

My simple guess is that if there is a law in the city (probably an ordinance or resolution), it came from vandalism activity rather than sniffing... I don't see a city getting into sniffing laws unless it is for more than liquid nails (many products are not real good for you if sniffed)...

Hopefully the rains will stop, your pond will empty with the pumps and you can go play in the mud again soon. :D

I do agree that we need to continue to be aware and not let our rights erode further.

A week ago today (last Friday) I bought a bottle of wine, along with some groceries and wasn't paying close enough attention when the items were being rung up. I later noticed that I was charged $1.50 more for the wine than the price that was posted. So Sunday morning, I was going back to that store for other things and I took that receipt with me to request a refund. Now in Texas, they cannot sell alcoholic beverages before noon on Sunday, and the cashier in Customer Service found he could not ring up a refund on alcoholic beverages either; told me I'd have to come back after noon. It wasn't worth it for $1.50.
