Ok my right rear tire was low a couple of times so I aired it up and went on my merry way cutting grass. Last week the same thing except my daughter ran out and said the outside of the tire was all wet! Yup leaking fluid from around the stem.

Parked the tractor with the valve up to help keep some of the fluid in the tire.

The next far I took the tire off and put it on the trailer (glad I already had kids!) and brought it to a shop to have a new tube installed.

Well long story short... The guy couldn't get the pump to pump the fluid out. He messed with it and it started pumping out a little water and black stuff.

HOLY :(&"&):--$ the place that put the tires on the rim about 8 years ago filled the tube with GREASE!!!! 40 plus gallons of the stuff!!

Now I had both tired replaced at the same time...... now I know what's in the other tire when it starts to leak!!

The bite is they have since went out of business!!

I doubt if they used grease. The cost compared to chloride is huge, they would have to rig up some kind of home made adapter to pump it into the tube, it's lighter than water. Pretty much a money loser for something that would be a money maker if you did it right in the first place.

More likely the chloride broke down the tube into some sludgy gunk (it started out as oil anyway) after that much time that plugged up the pump.

Are you sure that what you're seeing is not the tire breaking down and a combination of windsheildwasher fluid and rubber?

I have ran WWF for years and know others who have for 25 years with no issues so I doubt that is it. I know a tire shop around here where it was rumored they filled tires with used motor oil/ anti-freeze mixture. My guess is that is what the folks did to you. Just go rid of all the waste crap and saved a few buck at the same time.

I would think prolonged exposure to grease and oil would have a sovent effect on the rubber of the tire.
