I have one of my work trucks retired to the farm, a 97 f250 with 250 k on clock but is in awesome condition. I use it mire than my kawi teryx cause of the ac/heat. Love the straight pipe 7.3!! But I need new tire. This truck will see very little road time and got some hills I climb. Looked at several but don't mind buying cheaper softer aggressive tread tires. What you say?

Don't know how "best" and "cheap" can go in the same breath. :D

Just go and buy the cheap, and if they hold air they will work. :)

Perhaps look in the local papers or Craigslist for used tires.

Cheap = not $300 dollar mudders, maybe something $100-$150 a tire.

Used? Lol

Cheap, Uno not brand name, the not so well known tires.

if $150 is in the budget then Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor tires are great. I put 60,000 miles on a set with lots of on an off road and they still had more than 50% tread left. I have run over rocks at speed and driven through locust fields without any damage, the kevlar holds up very well. There is a more agressive more mudding version. Depending on size needed you can get them around your budget.

When I suggested used I thought you might want to spend $20 a tire.

I would check on Kumho truck tires - I bought a set for my Dodge 2500 Cummins that I have really liked.. They are load range E - All Terrain - They are $60/each cheaper than a similar Bridgestone - I dont drive about 7 to 8,000 miles per year so these will end up lasting me about 40,000 miles (which is all that i got out of my OEM bridgestones)

I have a 4x4 that's a third vehicle. I use it for hauling wood and on the farm in Maine. I just put the snow tires on over the weekend. The front end was out of alignment over the summer, the result being uneven wear on the driver side front tire. So I have about 30k on the tires and one is wearing bald on the inside of the tread.

I'm going to look around in the local junkyards for a used tire of the same make/model.

That dosent exist anymore. Even the wild country mud tires and those related chineese tires are around $165 for my 33/12.50/15 which prolly is not much bigger than your f250 tire (at that is from my buddy who gets the wholesale price as he is a dealer). The tires are the ones that make the euro tour tire, turbo tech, mile marker, and wild country all i think are made by private brand tire.
