5035 banging bush hog blades

Anyone have a pic of what medbug is talking about? Got me lost (which might not be hard to do :) ). If blades are banging together, sounds like a rotary cutter design problem.
If it is a problem with how fast the PTO is engaging, then the blades touching each other is still a rotary cutter design problem. As I understand it. Would be glad to have it explained. :D

OR, is this not a rotary cutter?

Had a buddy of mine look under the brush hog as I engauged the pto (I know it sounds dumb) but the blades are banging toether. I contacted 2 different dealers and spoke with their shop formans and both told me Mahindra has a problem with this and I would just have to live with it. I then spoke with the district rep, and he said Mahindra has an issue with this and it was even worse without the accumulator which is what the fix is supposed to be. The rep said Mahindra wasn't going to put the accumulators on the tractors but he convinced them otherwise. The rep said not to even try to run a rotary mower without a slip clutch, or you will spend all of your time replacing shear bolts, in short I was told to live with it. I quote, "It's just the nature of the beast" I say I spent over $20,000.00 on a new tractor and it needs to be right. Any suggestions on my next course of action. I have tried to ease it in with the clutch with no luck, (I was told there is no easing into the pto its all or none by the rep.) I even pulled into some 6' tall johnson grass and all it did was sling the blades together and lock them and I had to take a sledge and knock them apart. I have also made sure the blades were straight across from each other before engauging the pto..no luck. My old 2810 didn't do this.

Mine eases in just fine. As soon as it starts push the clutch back in. You'll get it spun up without a full-on from zero.

The rotary cutter is a new Landpride 1872, I will try to ease into the clutch but so far not much luck the area rep said I couldn't ease into it with the clutch it was all or none on the electric over hydraulic pto. I'm stumped. Thanks for all of the comments.

Check to see if the tractor has the accumulator package on it. It would be under the rt foot platform and shaped like a breakfast sausage pack (Bob Evans, Jimmy Dean, etcetra)

My guess is that you would have the same issue regardless of which tractor the cutter was connected to.

I drag a 5' King Kutter behind my 2615 and hear that occasional banging noise. I thought it was just after I stressed it while running over some hump. It quits when I level out.

My guess is that particular banging noise is from the swinging toplink mount on the KK rather than blade banging.

Medbug, you found the problem, the blades clash because they are too long in relation to the width of the stump jumper disk. From the engineering stand point, Mahindra goofed the design.

I thought this was a Land Pride cutter. Regardless of the brand, the blades are not going to follow the direction of the stump jumper and streighten out for several seconds. Most generally the blades will be folded together towards the front of the cutter prior to engage. The first revolution will be very unbalanced. Starting it out in tall Johnson Grass just magnifies the problem. Engage the PTO in short grass or have the cutter slightly raised, count to three, and if it is running smooth you are in business.
