WHAT? " There is a HUGE difference between an hourly pay rate, and an hourly pay rate PLUS benefits" To WHO? EVERYTHING you pay a human including, wages befits etc. are all calculated as it pertains to the product being produce. So under your thinking if you pay someone $10.00 an hour and they get $50.00 an hour in benefits then the company is only paying them $10.00 and hour. Interesting then where is the $50.00 per hour coming from? Yep the product being sold.

Now I understand you don't like the 2006 figures and want to set them aside by saying " 2006 isn't really relevant as the UAW gave a lot of concessions during the bailouts" ...that may fly with the taking heads on TV but not with me. Because the UNION made things in 2006 at that wage and BECAUSE of that wage companies went over seas. OH yippie the Unions gave "concessions" was one of those "concessions" the one that FORCED companies to pay a worker all day long to do nothing? OK lets look at some 2008 comparisons, or do you want to set these aside also, and these WERE UNDER OBAMAS plan.

Here's little chart of the " concessions" the Union made.
UAW Workers Actually Cost the Big Three Automakers $70 an Hour | The Heritage Foundation

I wonder if this is considered WAGES? Did they give this up as a "concession"

This is the Jobs Bank at GM, a two-decade-old program in which nearly 15,000 auto workers continue to get paid after their companies stop needing them. To earn wages and benefits that often top $100,000 a year, the workers must perform some company-approved activity. Many volunteer or go back to school. The rest clock time in the rubber room or something like it.

Hilarious! A graphic from the heritage foundation, I'll post something to counter it from moveon.org or the UAW.

Look, I said it before, I don't defend some of the BS the unions pull/get away with, just like I don't defend rabid anti-labor idiots like the heritage foundation. If they had their way the entire population would make $2 an hour while we worked for 18 hours a day with no health, safety or environmental regulations that would cut into corporate profits.

A worker making $750 a day, plus benefits would be getting somewhere around $1400+ a day in total compensation, so that's why that absurd statement needed to be addressed. Do you see the difference there?? Total compensation based on your graphic = $600 your claim = $1400+. I don't know how to make it any clearer for you.

And one last thing, how is comparing some line workers to the "rest of the private sector" a valid comparison? I find it really interesting that they did not compare the big three to some of the non-union line workers for Hyundai, Toyota, Honda or BMW. All of which have plants in the US. I think there would not have been much of a difference and that little graphic wouldn't have been nearly as dramatic.

I think that graph is reflective of the difference of the auto industry between Detroit and the rest of the auto industry.

We figure that benifits are about 1/3 to 1/2 of the wage.

We may have lowered our income tax rates to a degree but we have so many other taxes to contend with that make it more difficult to operate a business. I figure that between all the differnet taxes that our company has about one persons wages per year just to deal with them! To a degree they have made it very difficult to operate a business here because ignorance of the laws is no excuse, and they are creating new laws so fast they don't even have time to read them!(nobamacare)!

There will always be shakers and there will always be sitters, I don't understand why someone who chooses to live off someone else has that right and backed by the government. That is a problem! Why should they be allowed to have what they do, we are born equal and we die equal, what we do while walking on the face of the earth is up to the individual, not the government.

Our government is a cancer to a free society! It is growing out of control and making it prohibitive for the initial freedoms we are supposed to have.

November 2nd Take out all the trash!

Sorry for getting carried away off the coarse but the bulk of tractors are made near their markets. The smaller tractors higher sales are in the pacific rim area. The midsize are mostly sold in Europe and the largest ones are sold here predominately.

I agree with ending social security disability payments. I can't tell you how many able bodied americans collect this. I have met hundreds of them, their disability is a drug addiction. They get to collect $500-800 a month because they have a drug habit. They get free medical care. They get free transportation to their doctors and counseling visits. They get food stamps. They get subsidized housing. They get subsidized energy. They do not live like kings. many of them work construction jobs under the table, or do temp work. Many of them spend their income on more drugs and alcohol, then have 4-6 kids (which the gov picks the tab up on too).

So what if someone gets paid $50-75 dollars an hour for actually working. I don't make that much, but I won't begrudge someone for making it (sounds like jealousy or envy).

People have their priorities out of wack. Give working americans a living wage, and put the deadbeats out of free living. Farmers should never struggle unless their lazy, workers should be able to take of their families if they work hard, and no CEO is worth $100,000,000 a year. If you think the chinese are not subsidizing their manufacturing, then your high too.

Welfare is a dirty word, but social security disability sounds so much better. Oh, just so people are aware, the American Psychological Association attempted to get sex offenders into this racket too. Why? Because once they get SSD, the gov picks up the tab for all their counseling.

The wool was pulled over our eyes a long time ago.

It just makes me sick that the politicians turned the GM and other car manufacturer's bailout into an inquisition of workers wages. They failed to mention that they also taxed those same people, and the business, and had no problem taking the money. GM was going down in flames due to corporate greed, pure and simple, not workers wages. but please, feel free to believe the rhetoric, politicians (lawyers) are good at spewing that nonsense.
