hey guys,
i was splitting wood today when all the sudden i couldnt generate more that 300 psi on my gauge, log lift is working fine,it seems as if the relief is bypassing,
could it have blown a cylinder seal ? and is there a way to check /test?

thanks

Member valve rd 5000
took prv out apears to be a sealed cartridge, i cant figure out how it comes apart, so i hose it out with brakeleen
put it back together and its the same, cylinder stops at 400 psi, if i increase engine rpm to full throttle i can get 1000 psi

when the cylinder hits its 400 psi resistance and wont travel any further i hear a shhhhhhhhh noise

Do you have a two spool valve, or two different valves? Please show some good pictures. Did you change any hoses?

What pressure were you getting before this happened?

I believe that relief cartridge is adjustable.

Is the fluid foamy?

Any easy way to check the cylinder seal is to extend the cylinder all the way, then remove the hose from the rod-end, now operate the lever to try to extend it further, if fluid squirts out of the open port, then the seals are bypassing.

fluid was fine,
ill try that with the cylinder
extend all the way out
remove the line on front of cylinder that would make the cylinder return to see if fluid is bypassing seals correct?

extra info
new 22 gpm barnes 2 stage
new prince rd 5000 2 spool valve
used 4.5"x2"x36" cylinder
18 hp briggs
have split 4 cords with engine just above idle
would stall the cylinder at 2250 psi with gnarly knotted peices relief would open and not even effect engine rpm

Yes.

used 4.5"x2"x36" cylinder

Everything else is new...focus your attention on that used cylinder...
