I recently purchased a Gator trailer to haul my 4115. I order to be able to drive the tractor up, the gate had to be built long, and heavy.

I'm wondering what other have done on here to help "lighten" their tailgates.

I was wondering if some members would post pics of their set up. Whether it be fold in half, spring assisted, or a hand crank. I need something, mine is too heavy...and i'm too old to keep doing this.

I've searched the forum up and down, and have seen a couple of pics...

I have spring assist on my fold up equipment trailer ramps, and they are reasonably light without them. It does make it easier, that's for sure.

My gate needed to be heavy enough for an 8,000# tractor. Started out with coil springs on the hinge pins. When I added an extension for mowers, I needed more assist. I used garage door springs in exhaust pipe tubing to apply more lift. If you don't have the tools to make your own there are similar "factory" models, one is Gorilla Lift. ~~ grnspot110

I got my father the Gorilla lift for his trailer and they work great. His only issue was the front end of the tubes are open and the wasps love to make nest there. A little spray foam solved that problem.

No problem, that is what we are here for. Great thing about this site is you can always find a guy on here that has been there done that and now knows how to cross that bridge.

Since you are new I will tell you we need pictures when complete or we will hunt you down....:laughing::laughing:

Cut a piece of wood to fit the end & glue it in with silicone sealant! I also run my cables through a pine plug with a hole drilled in it. ~~ grnspot110
