Black bucket or JD green?

Don't know what year the green paint changed tints but offering the implements in black would eliminate that issue.

We obviously need more to do.

Sometime around the mid nineties my dealer told me Deere was looking at changing certain implement colors so they would look nicer longer. He said in a couple days the district rep was bringing by a black mower deck and wanted me to come back then to see it. As it turned out I could not make it then but would have liked to see it. The idea with black was to show dirt less than the yellow did. At the time I guessed that was why they were doing some loader buckets in black instead of green. Some time after that they started producing green mower decks. I suppose that won out over black. Could be that was why they seemed to go back later more toward green buckets just to make it all match. Again just all speculation on my part, but somehow interesting in its own way.:)

The 70 loader has a green bucket, and when they started calling it the 70A loader, the bucket was more squarish and painted black. I think a lot of 790's had the 70/70A loader on them.

The change to the black squarish bucket did about line up with the introduction of the 70A loader, but I wouldn't say that was the reason. Originally two versions of the 70 loader were sold. One to fit the 755 and one to fit the 855. Same loader, the 855 version just had a longer horizontal frame to fit the tractor. Later the 855 version was changed to instead "kink" the masts forward. They called that the 70A, while the 755 (and 770) retained the 70. Since buckets were sold separately from the loader, some 70A got black and some got green.

That's a rather flat looking 'bucket'.

Ya, its a special one. Designed it myself. Had it fab'd by NASA's JPL. I wasn't supposed to show it, it's for optimum bucket performance in zero gravity.

When I bought my bucket it was black, but now it is mostly the color of steel.
