Sanity check: I was attempting to verify the work port / lever position of my remote 2-spool DA valve set before hooking up the hoses, but was unable to get any air flow (with levers actuated) from the 'IN' port.

Air blown into the 'IN' port came out of the 'OUT' port with both levers at center, and when actuating either lever the flow stopped coming out of the 'OUT' port, so that is normal, however, I couldn't get air flow out of any of the work ports.

I could, however, get flow from the work ports to the 'OUT' port.

Is there anything in the IN-to-work port path, like a check valve or something, that would require some amount of pressure to achieve flow to the work ports? I was blowing with my mouth, not any kind of compressor or anything, so no real pressure was involved - hydraulic oil tastes delicious, BTW. The valve paperwork does talk about some feature that prevents "drop before lift" - I thought maybe that could be it.

I also connected the levers myself - is it possible that the valves are upsidedown? Is there an up or a down? I don't think there were any marks on the piston ends, at least not that I remember. I'm hoping rotational position doesn't matter.

Thanks - JayC

The openings on the spools, are not that big, and just a mouthful of air, might not be enough.

You may be thinking about the load check valves, and those are to prevent the load dropping while shifting.

Do you have any pictures of the valve?

Its a Sauer-Danfoss 1627 valve - pic attached. It has a PB sleeve installed.

Now that I think of it, my being able to blow into the IN port, and having air come out of the OUT port doesn't seem right - it should come out of the PB port, correct? Then again, maybe it was...I'll have to re-check everything again next weekend...ugh.

Something seems screwed up - this is out of a series of generic valves with a whole bunch of spool options - I'm not 100% convinced that they gave me the right valve/spools.
