2520 with 46 Backhoe Storage

I got another questions about the 46 backhoe on a 2520. I live in an old house that we bought earlier this year. Currently we don't have a garage, but we are planning to build a 3 or maybe 4 car detached garage next year. In the meantime I am hoping to park it in the 2 bay carriage house. The carriage house is 10'10" deep, so what I was hoping to do is remove the loader bucket and turn the backhoe 90 degree once I partial back in the door. My Fast-Cat will be chopped liver and have to live under a tarp until the garage is built. It will be tractor origami, but do you think it will fit?

Just get you a tube of marine grease and coat any exposed rams before you tarp it if you do not get it inside OK. I did pick up some free pallets that I am going to set more of my equipment on this winter and plan to do more tarping. :thumbsup:

You can also build a simple dolly for your backhoe to allow you to move it around while it's off the tractor.

If I can't fit it in the carriage house, I am going to have to store it out back on the gravel drive to the guest house and casters will just sink into the ground. Fortunately the main drive is paved, but I can't put it there.

I haven't taken the 46 off my 2520 yet (3 years) but when I had an engine on a 40x48 inch pallet and wanted that extra 8 inches on the dirt floor garage I took a chain and pulled the pallet around 90 degrees and then pushed the whole thing back against the wall.
Pulled the pallet out and then around with the chain again in the Spring.

I don't have any suggestions as to where you can put it for now, but go with the 4 car garage for sure. When I built my house, I was coming from a house with a single car garage and built a triple on the new house. Boy do I wish I had a 4 car unit now.

Somehow my toys just keep getting bigger and bigger.......can't understand it....oh, wouldn't have anything to do with the 2 cars, pickup truck, boat, X495, JD 2520, FEL , 2 - 62" decks etc etc......would it?

I have had my eyes on a Mustang GT500, but I decided that the Deere was more important this year. Maybe in a couple of years after the garage is built.

Can anyone tell me what is the best backhoe for the 2720? Will a 447 fit? I am looking for something with the longest reach that I can find. Seems the 447/448 are meant for the larger tractors but I would really like to reach out 8 feet if I can.

8 Feet? Not gonna happen-no way, no how. The 447 only fits the 3x20 series.

Guess I am going to make do with the 46 with a reach of 6.5 feet That is all I really need, but you know what they say!! bigger is better!! Grins!
