Kubota's dipstick

   / Kubota's dipstick #11
I have a F2680E. It's sitting in the garage and hasn't been ran in a few weeks. I'd bet money that if I pull the oil dipstick now it will show oil just on the tip of the dipstick. When I wipe it off and reinsert dipstick and pull it out to check it the reading will be at the full mark.
This has always baffeled me since on cars/trucks the oil will reach the highest level after sitting for awhile.
The vent relief valve Leonz mentioned must have something to do with this on the F model Kubota.

I'll check it at idle and see what it shows. I'm not really worried about it, just drain a little and move on...

Will you check it with the dipstick pushed all the way in or not? I'm still curious which way Kubota says to measure the level. So far, nobody seems to know for sure....but we all do it one way or the other...

The dip stick has to be fully inserted ...

Do you not understand english?

I understand English well enough. Things I do not understand so well are fools, insults, and arrogance.

If this unit is a diesel and this is the case; the crankcase breather tube may be partially plugged and needs to be inspected.

Mice and the yellow jacket/ paper wasps are always an issue with diesel equipment that has been idled-parked during warm weather.

I hope no one thinks I was being insensitive or insulting them. The new units may or may not have a rubber o-ring to secure the dipstick to keep it in place.

Where is this crankcase breather tube?

Hello John,

if it is like the Duetz air cooled diesels it is in the front of the engine near the flywheel.

Some of the Kubotas have a crank case breathyer tube coming off the side of the crancase too.

You will notice a slight black oil film around the base of the crankcase breather tube when you find it.

If you have the mower off and the belly exposed you will see it if you are sliding under the engine with a creeper or on a tarp as it is a round pipe with an open end.

Thanks Leonz. The mowing deck is out front and not around the motor so should be easier to find.
