Catchy title, eh?

I had a nice lady call me the other day wanting to know if I did window guards. I told her I didn't because people died when there was a fire and window guards were in place.

"I don't mean that kind of window guard" she said. "I want a window in my privacy fence so my dogs can see out".

"I can do that." I said. What I didn't tell her was I had never made one out of steel before. In fact the only I have ever made was at my house and it's made with a framed piece of lattice in the gate so our Dozer dawg and see out. It's almost on the ground because, well, his legs are so short that you could confuse him with a snake but for the ears.

Here's what I made and installed for her and her dawgs.

Back in the day Glenda, she's doing great btw and thank you for mentioning it on another discussion, worked for GTE. I got a business line because we didn't want her to get into trouble with GTE over me using a residential line for a business.

I've kept that number for eighteen years now, through GTE becoming Verizon, two shop moves, and finally forwarding that number to the cell phone automatically at the telco central office. Many times I've thought of killing it because of the expense. I just never got around to it.

Now it seems that if you look up welding in Wylie online I'm the only local number you get. Everyone else has went to celluar phone service. Online gets its numbers from the yellow pages. Yellow pages get their listings from the business numbers. So to make a long story short, I get quite a few calls from the internet. Most of them I send out to competitors because I don't do aluminum welding for others etc.

This particular call came from a nice lady going online and looking for a weldor in our area. This job wasn't much. But they're having a pool built and will need new gates. They liked the quality of the windows and the way I installed it. I have a good shot at getting the gates too.

Nice, very nice. One question though, why would you want your dogs to see out of the fence? Seems like there would be more barking at strangers passing by.

Dogs love to look out windows like this. I have known several people who had them and their dogs spent most of their time in the yard looking out the dog window.

Of course there is barking at passers-by, but if your dogs are not aggressive, it is just a bark to let everybody know there is a stranger in the neighborhood, and it is not obnoxious.

I have never had a dog window like the one shown, since I have always had even more of a view for my dogs, but I would put one in in a second if I moved to a house with a solid fence.

Nice looking work. But the pessimist in me would be concerned a dog could get his head wedged in that design. Maybe not her dogs since they look big enough but a passing smaller dog taking a look in might, or even worse a childs arm...
