I just priced a Frontier SB 1164 blower and hydraulic chute rotator at my local JD dealer. The quote was $2520 which sounds like a good deal from what I am reading.

Does anyone have the 1164 and if so what do you think of it? I have the 3rd scv so I am definitely leaning towards the hydraulic chute rotator. Turning that crank looks like a PITA to me.

Another dealer would not touch that price. He said it was below their dealer cost so I am a bit leery of the whole deal. I am waiting for the bait and switch if I actually go through with it.

Regards,
Mike

Got a SB1164 a couple weeks ago. I think it is very well built. It runs quietly at full speed without any vibration. I don't have a 3rd scv so got the manual chute. Price before tax was $2235. $2520 sounds like a good deal for hydraulic chute. It took 9 weeks from order to delivery so if you want one you should order ASAP.

Thanks for the info. They have the 1164 on the lot, just not the chute rotator. I would probably just take it home and use it until I could install
the hydraulic chute rotator.

Thanks,
Mike

Oh okay, no waiting. The manual chute crank is adjustable and easy to reach. It was a little stiff at first but some grease fixed that. So unless you have a cab or need to make lots of adjustments you could save a few hundred by going with the manual chute. Also just to let you know, when the blower was delivered the guy had to shorten the PTO shaft and that's not an easy job. It comes extra long for larger tractors. Could save yourself the hassle if the dealer will do it for you.

Also the SB1164 is Imatch compatible and so the 3 bushings should be included at no cost.

Mikey,

If you can afford it stick with the hydraulic rotation. It'll make your life easier and more pleasant when moving snow.

I paid $2100 back in August for the same unit. Quality attachment, for sure.

Of course, if you have a remote for chute rotation....use it. But, a 6 year old kid could twirl that rotation handle with no effort at all. It ain't a pita.

Good luck with your purchase.
