As the time draws nearer, I am considering storage options. Doing some research on Pole Barns, I am finding that condensation is an issue in many cases which may further cause the truck to deteriorate.

Questions:
Would siding the pole barn with wood (t1-11 or similar) and have soffit and ridge vents in the steel roof severely reduce condensation?
Building will not be heated, so insulation not required.
If no, would I be better off with a structure with a roof only?
Regardless of structure type, it will have a gravel floor.

Thanks again for you input.
PS - Update on truck - Would not start the other morning. Fuel pump in front tank went bad. Solution - flip switch to other tank! Don't have that option in the new trucks! Will be replacing the pump soon...

Fuel pumps were a weakness on the early to mid 90s F150s. I have 93 with a single tank (could not get dual tanks on a 4x4 with short bed because the transfer case interfered with the front tank location) and have replaced two fuel pumps. I have owned this truck since new and had very few problems but the fuel pump has definitely been its weakest point. The mechanic that I use said to replace with an OEM pump because an AZ or other cheap pumps were even worse.

I have a 1999 Tahoe that has been in limited use for the last 3-4 years. The first 18 months, I rarely touched it, and it did deteriorate (AC system and battery). I keep all fluids and gas full and use gas conditioner. In 3 years, I replaced the battery at least 4 times even though I tried to run it for 30 minutes once per week. Over time, even with new batteries, the truck ran limply and had trouble starting, much like a carb'd unit instead of the EFI that it is.

I bought a small solar battey charger that remains on my dash and plugged into the 12v outlet. I can not understate the difference this has made. Literally, this truck has not started so well since new.

I bought a Sunforce product from Pep Boys like this one shown on the radio Shack website.

When I built my pole barn 10 years ago my wife did not like the look of metal. What we did was simply build a pole barn structure then side it with 1/2" osb. It then got vinyl siding and sofits, full gutters, and a 3 tab roof to match the house.

Back then the cost was about the same. Not sure now days.

2 pumps in a nearly 18 year old truck does not seem bad to me.

the hardest thing on a truck is it to set unused. I try to run my limited use truck to town and around at least once every 2 weeks to keep the batteries up, tires round and everything moving.

Still a great truck. Not a daily driver for the last year but makes a great hunting truck. Motor and transmission have never been touched and has original alternator. My mechanic did tell me the fuel pumps were problem on these trucks.

Beautiful truck you have there. It is well worth taking care of. I have one question tho about one I have. Its a 1993 F150 extended cab. It has dual tanks. The front tank works fine, fuel gauge and all, but when I fill up the back tank, and switch to it, it pumps from it to the front tank. I mean it runs like that but you can watch the fuel gauge drop on it and the front tank gauge show its filling up. Is this normal? Sorry if I am imposing on the OP. thanks zman

There was a factory recall to install extra check valves on both tanks. As this is a serious safety issue, it should still be available.
