I have a 38" deck on my GT235.

I do not have a manual.

How do I remove?

Thanks.

:welcome:
Looks like you have the long rod on top to release the drive belt tension. Remove the belt from the drive. Then remove the pins on the lift bars, and drop the front bail (draft). Should slide right out then.

Thank you sir. I pulled that steel rod and it relived belt pressure. But I couldn't see anything that would drop the deck.

You should be able to see the two pins with clips on each side just ahead of the rear wheels, that connect the lift arms activated by the manual lift handle. Remove those two pins on each side and the rear of the deck should be free. Then remove the front draft (I call it a bale/bail). Then there is likely a rod that has a very tricky clip on a rod to remove.
Here are some schematics of the parts.

First pic
Part 24 is the lift arm for the rear of the deck. Part 39 is the pivot that latches the front draft that holds the front of the mower deck. These parts are critical to the proper "leveling" of the deck and have adjusting threads on them. If the deck is in adjustment, no need to unthread anything. Just release the front draft.

Second pic.
Shows assembly no. 47 that has a clip to remove. This is the tricky one, as the clip is hard to reach and keeping the washer on when re-attaching is an interesting feat.

Third pic.
Shows the J-pins (part 23) on each side of the rear of the deck to pull out (spring loaded) and rear of the deck should drop off the lift arms.

Deere is good about posting their manuals on their website. I suggest you check there for the removal/installation procedure.

It will help to push the deck lift lever fully forward, and
lock it there (with the push button ). that will take any
spring tension off the lift so the deck should be resting
on the ground. remember to lift that back up before you try
to slide the deck out the side of the tractor.

Thanks guys. Following your instructions, and the manual, made the removal pretty simple. I greased the zerks, and cleaned beneath the deck.

My new issue is going to be with the belt that connects the engine with the transmission. As you can see, the is a pretty wide cut into the belt material, appx 3/8".

How difficult is it to change this drive belt?

What would cause a cut into the material?

Thanks again!

No idea but probably a good idea to have the spare one on hand if (when) it breaks through. The manual should give you belt changing procedure.
