Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

The USA cutting the value of the dollar has got to bite them. WM I read sees inflation currently running at 4%. All importers are going to take it on the chin as the USA works to move jobs from those importing nations back to the USA.

This will however help those companies that did not go off shore keep their prices more or less the same as other vendors have to have huge increases.

I went to the HF store near me on Sunday and bought the 4x6 metal cutting bandsaw. It is on sale for $229 and they honored the 20% off coupon I printed from my computer that I found on some coupon website. They did have a sign in the store that listed items on which the coupons could not be used, and the saw I bought was not one of the excluded items. BTW, the fine print on the coupon I used said they would not honor computer printouts of coupons!

I was about to pay $140.00 each for two Condor motorcycle chocks to hold antique cycles in my trailer. A friend with a shop, was going to get them for me at his cost. I found wheel chocks at Harbor Freight, on sale, for less than $30. each. I took a chance and they work perfectly, could not work better. I can't imagine how they can fabricate these chocks, ship them to HF then on to me for that price. The material seems solid, the welding looks great and they function perfectly. I can now pull my bikes into the chock, the wheel locks in place and I can get off the bike and attach the tiedown straps.

I went to HF yesterday to buy some large open-end/box-end wrenches to work on my TLB. The lady who checked me out said I should save my receipt to use for the lifetime warranty if needed. She said I could use a computer scan/printout, but I think I'll make a folder and put them into my fire safe. Maybe I can make the tools and the receipts part of my estate.:D

I think HF prints their receipts with the same disappearing ink as AutoZone, Home Depot and TSC. You *have* to scan the receipt if you want anything legible a year later! I've had a problem reading them to prepare my taxes the following April.

I think most of them are using direct thermal paper. Have you ever left one on a car dashboard?

I can see it now.

"...and to my no good son-in-law who always borrowed my stuff and never brang it back I leave my strut spring compressor and jack stands from Harbor Freight Tools."

You would think returning a tool with a lifetime warranty wouldn't require a receipt. Sears just gives you a new tool, no questions asked.
