My brother has been using the Mystery Plow behind the 8N on the foodplots this fall. I never have figured out who made the thing.

After watching Ploughmyfield plow cleanup video I decided I could do that too!

I wire brushed the shares, moldboards and lands? Slapped some oil on them then started priming the frame.

There should be a lot less friction.

I tried to dress up the leading edges with a grinder.

Two questions.

Does anybody know who CGM and CFD is? Manufacture? Previous owner?

Second question is should I actually sharpen the leading edges? If so what is the proper way and what should the edge look like?

There is a lot you can do to make a plow a better tool. Polishing it was an excellent start. Plows shares need to be shaped properly and there are optimal plow configurations. A good source of information would be:

Ferguson Moldboard Plow Service Manual

Note the entire manual is set out page by page in the messages.

I have never seen a plow like that. It does appear that the A-Frame has been fabricated and added at a later date?? Ken Sweet

My brother used that plow on about 3 acres so far and when I watched the video I had the "Why didn't I do that first" moment. Hopefully the plow tune up will help the wear and tear on the 8n.

There was some pitting on the share. I didn't want to try to grind them out thinking that just polishing the surface would increase the plows efficiency enough.

When I looked at the manual's description on how to sharpen the share I'm afraid I'd end up busting the nuts and bolts trying to get it off! Today I'll put a straight edge on the them and see what they look like.

It's been retro fitted for sure. Maybe it was made from older plows to be used in a non agricultural application. They obviously didn't feel the need for colter wheels.

Another thing we noticed is the 8's lift gets the thing only 2 inches off the ground.

Since I have no experience with plows I'll investigate further and compare it to the ford parts plow we have.

The thing has worked great in turning over our foodplots.

I don't see anything that plow needs except putting it to work. Those shares/points will be very difficult to find, unless you have a old parts plow. Best of luck. Ken Sweet

Looks like a ih fasthitch frame with the barbs torched off and coverted to 3ph but the plow doesn't look liek the IH plows I've seen.

Finished it up today. I didn't try to do anymore sharpening till this weekend when my brother can do an official inspection.

That's Tractor Supply's Ford Red spray paint. The sun was so bright it washed the color out in the photo so I decided I would make it look like a old color magazine add.

Pulling it in sandy soil will make it shine like a new nickle. ;)

Thank for the feedback everybody.

I gave it a test run yesterday and it cut really good. It' a big improvement.

Here's a picture of it next to the parts plow.

What I can't figure out is what is the adjustable lever on the tail?
