Thank you SpudHauler...my pleasure....will these clamps work okay? for tyin' back the 1/4" hydraulic hoses?.......take care Ampa <>

Same thing I used and so far they are working fine. It's best if you can get a snug fit on them.

Nice job, had snow up at camp Wed morning. Could have played with that machine. Too bad you not my neighbour, I would put that front left tire on the right way in exchange for one driveway clearing.:)

Hi Gary...I notice your usin' 3/8" hose...I wonder why those young guys at Princess Auto sold me 1/4"....maybe because the original onboard metal hydraulic lines were kinda small...

my new system works really smooth.....I'll install as you have....like one fastener for two clamps ....did you use self tapping fasteners?...like your setup....did you custom build that FEL ?

I first thought about a FEL as my first attachment....then I read they could tip over very easy and my tractor hasn't any ROPE installed...so I decieded to pass on that idea...then a bucket was maybe another idea....I decieded for my needs... a 48" snowblade would be just fine....

I'm quite satified the way it turned out...I may or may not have a few bugs to iron out down the road...my lift and raise is fully adjustable as is my left and right angle...I built it with this in mind...the up and down is fine.... the left angle is off by less than a 1/4" the right angle is dead on...I'm just gonna' leave it as is for now.....take care Ampa <> :)

I probably could have used 1/4" hose as well. At the time I didn't know anything about hydraulics so I just went by the size of the pump line (1/2") and guessed at everything else. With the help of everyone on TBN I have managed to learn a lot since then. For what you have built and since it is working the way you want, your hose size is the right one.

I drilled and tapped the holes but I don't see why self tapping wouldn't work just as well. I just had plenty of bolts the size I wanted to use already on hand. You may have to add a spacer underneath the clamps in some places. (Like on the loader cross brace) to clear other parts.

I built the loader and am very happy with it. But, if some day I can get a bigger tractor I will just buy a loader. Not that it wasn't a learning experience and fun to build, just not sure the savings was worth the time and effort:D

I am sure you will find some things that you want to change, add or modify after the first season using the plow. For now though, I would just tidy everything up and have at it. It looks like it will handle the snow pretty easily. If there is anything that needs changing, it will show you:laughing: My loader showed me some the first day I used it.

The great thing is that you jumped in there and built it and now you can reap the rewards and own the bragging rights:thumbsup:

David....do you mean the front tires are on backwards as well.....I just finished removin' the rears and turnin' them around couple weeks ago....they were installed backwards when I first bought the tractor.

I installed two new front ATV tires from Princess Auto then installed them the same way they were....the old rears were liquid filled plus all weather checked and rotted.... both rear tires blew out.not both together though....first one and then the next day the second tire blew.....this happened last year...

two new rear Turf tires would have cost me around $400.00 each ... I didn't have the money for even one rear tire and I needed two.... so I went and had two wide track used truck tires installed @ less than 1/3 the price .....take care Ampa <>

Ampa,
sitting on the tractor the front tire on the left is wrong. Tread should be looking like the one on the right. When you look from the front the tread should look somewhat like the letter 'V'.

But hey, you may have stumbled on a better traction method, one for going forward and backward.

Ampa:

Congrats on getting it completed. Nice looking job, too. I would have responded yesterday, but I was, almost literally, up to my armpits in conduit and wire. I am finally putting in a code compliant generator transfer switch. I have been travelling alot these days, and the rest of the family does not quite have all the electrical understanding necessary to hook up the generator safely. So, I put in a sub-panel with a transfer switch and moved circuits that need to be generator powered to the panel. At least now I know no one will get electrocuted when they use the generator.

Take care with the health concerns, I hope all turns out as well as your tractor project has:). I will be sure to keep you in my prayers.

Thanks cycle_gator....when I lived in a mobile trailer... I'd always have at least one small generator around for short camping/fishing trips...it also came in quite handy when the hydro shut down which was quite often...just to run my frig/small freezer...

I now have two small generators 1@1200 watts 1@ 850 watt which is a pure syn wave this small generator will run things like my computer or my musical electronic equipment....besides bein' nice and light in weight...it's also super quiet...since movin' back to the big city.... I've never had to use them at all...the hydro don't ever fail around here..... too many malls and businesses..but they are both there on standby..... I always run both of them out of gas in the carb usin' the gas shutoff... then normaly drain out the old gas....I don't ever use a fuel stablelizer.....

haven't never needed any...and I haven't drained out the old gas....both are OHV engines...I've never had any trouble startin' them....I started the small one just before we moved in May of this year...I've got a lot of cleaning and rearranging the basement and garage since my tractor almost complete...just need to tie up the hoses and change out the hydraulic fluid... seems my youngest son just split up with his new GF of 7 months...wanted to get all his stuff moved out

so he needed my help/van this whole past weekend to move all his stuff his new place....which isn't quite ready to move into yet..... so he'll be stayin' with us till the end of the month....my eldest son has big problems as well.... no truck no job and lots of bills to be paid..

That's the way love goes babe (The song by Merl Haggard )....glad hear your the same type guy.... always there to help......you take care now and thanks for the compliment plus prayin' for me....I'm now gonna' think positive not negitive Ampa

Hi Ampa,
Ditto on the look after yourself and best of health.

You did say you were going to use those nice clamps to fasten some of your hose down with and I had an idea after look at Gary's nice setup. For the standoff, Gary used what looks like multiple washers, I would go to Mom's kitchen and steal her teflon cutting board. You know, that white thing she cuts things up on instead of marking the counter top.
Then cut it up into 3/4 inch square blocks, drill hole in center, and you know have a rust proof standoff. Cool!
Don't tel MOM!!!

Question:
Does your valves from PAuto have a float position? Pull back is up, let go and it returns to neutral, push forward is down, let go it returns to neutral, push forward all the way, the lever stays there and it is in float mode. In other words, the blade will go up or down on it's own depending on the terrain.
Why I ask is I'm looking for a 3 spool 4 position mini valve like yours that has all 4 positions, up/neutral/down/float, but PA doesn't seem to carry that model here in Moncton NB. Lots have 3 position without the float.

Hi SpudHauler..Had to rethink about what you asked me and change my answer.....when I raise the blade.... the lever returns to center and the blade remains raised...for example the cylinder is under pressure..to lower it..it's the same thing pressure remains in the cylinder..and the lever returns to center...so this be what your meaning about float action?....this two spool valve gives me complete control....for example I can control how fast I raise either cylinder/ram...

like if I want to raise the blade if I pull or push the lever real easy I can make it operate real slow like...and if I yank back or forward on the levers they move up and down real quick like....same with the angle spool....

it's real cool...the first two spool only cost me $169.00 plus tax...the one I got now that replaced the one I blew
up was priced @ $189.00....but they didn't charge me no extra....today I changed out all the old hydraulic fluid...the color was a milky yellowish color..."Yuk"....

the transmission has a drain plug but I didn't use it.... I used the two rear axle drain plugs only ... I did turn over the engine with the starter to try drain the hydraulic pump/cylinders/hoses etc...I run it after adding the new oil and checking the dipstick as I went it shows overfilled but it always did..at least it's clean looking and clear ...so I should be okay to go...I couldn't find the filter...if I had the room I was gonna' add on an external 10 micron filter to the low pressure side "T"....

the new stuff was light amber...somewhat the color of honey.... I then decieded to tie up all the hydraulic hoses...I used a piece of of small size chainlink I had overlaid some heavy walled clear tubing one time....

first I had to drop down the plough on both sides to get the hoses up under the bracket that I modified from the tractors old belly mower brakets to mount the "A" frame onto...I quite happy the whole thing works better than I ever thought it would..

the balance of it I used two of those clamps and tied up the rest with some all plastic green color clothes line I had layin' around for the time bein'..I will probley use my wire ties when I find them...this way was much quicker and easy and the hoses are up and off the ground..I'll post some more pic's later on....right now I've spent so much time on this project I gettin' tired out...I then topped up the fuel tank...I'm all ready for for ol' man winter...you take care Ampa :)
