Oh sure! But in the desert you have to pay for bottled water just to keep your plants alive.;)

That's really great that you have such a long growing season. I'd bet some varieties of tomatoes get to be huge bushes before they die. This year, I pruned about 1/2 my plants back to the stems when they started getting diseased. Sure enough, they sprouted out and and produced tomatoes again by the end of the season. I also bought several yellow and red cherry tomato plants when Walmart was closing out their inventory. All those have produced really well up until the frost finally got them.

I envy all you guys with winter gardens in your greenhouses/hoophouses. I eventually want to build one, but just haven't got it done with all the other projects on my plate. Some day. . . .:)

Oh yes... I noticed Harbor Freight has their 10' x 12' greenhouse on sale for $699. That's a pretty good price for such a big greenhouse.

Our garden got frosted about the end of Sept. I was able to keep a few things going in the greenhouse till mid Oct but then I gave up having to keep the heat on. Time to think of spring.........

Jim our last 'maters got too chilled 10 days ago. End of another season. We do have lettuce going and we put in garlic in Oct. which will winter over here.

We put garlic in last month also. We wouldn't know what to do without our supply of garlic. :licking:

For the sake of pictures, I'll try to post some pictures of our hoop house and the greens inside. I'll try to get to it tomorrow.

Please do post some photo's. I have visited up your way in the winter. More power to you if you can keep things growing.

It is easy here in my area. Plant in Oct. and harvest in July. We do mulch it in for some protection.

Do you have a problem with rodents under the mulch?

Ours frosted out a couple months ago, then we got warm again. Heck, I saw a toad hopping around on November 11th! Crazy weather! :confused2:

Here is a picture of the garlic bed.
IMG_0020.jpg

We plant it in beds instead of rows to conserve space and planted somewhere around thirty pounds of garlic in these two beds. The plants are 6inches apart in every direction. We normally mulch with straw but I'm not sure what we are going to mulch it with this year if we can't find straw. Hay isn't good to mulch with unless we want a hay field the following year.

We also have cold frames that we have carrots and greens in. Nothing beats winter carrots.:licking:

looknlearn, that's not postin', that's braggin'!:D Wow! NICE! I am so jealous. I can just taste all that good stuff. I just moved my greenhouse up a few lines on my to-do list.

BTW: I had some mulch that sat out all summer and got rained on several times. The bags had some holes and got soaked with water. When my wife when to spread the mulch last week, it was full of termites. I told her to go ahead and spread it because as soon as it dried out the termites would die. It's been very dry here and I hope my advice was correct.
