I'm about to start searching the web to find the best way to remove it.
Has anyone had it yet and found the easiest way to get rid of it?
My wife just got another rogue program on her computer. She was using Google Chrome and got the XP Internet Security 2010 (virus, worm, trojan, whatever it is).

Last night I downloaded Malwarebytes to the infected computer but it did not help because the rogue program was able to block it. After reading up on it for hours I see that I must download Malwarebytes with my computer to a flash drive so that I can install it in her computer in the proper way.
This is going to take some time and I have a heavy schedule today so I may be able to try again tonight.
While we were on a vacation our nephew (housesitting) got something bad installed on our computer. At least he fessed up to it.
I knew I had Malwarebytes on a USB stick from the office and tried to install it. NO GO. Whatever infected the machine wouldn't let me install the program. And then I looked at my programs and remembered that I'd already installed Malwarebytes.
I ran the program, problem gone.
And I learned that installing Malwarebytes AFTER an infection can be problematic.

We had a virus attack my wifes computer a few months ago...the thread is on TBN about it ..and it was called an " Open With Virus " no matter what you try to open on your computer a window would come up and say " open with " I tried malware and it got rid of some of the worms and viruses but after talking to the Geek Squad at Best Buy and another computer service person ..it was deemed incurable ..so instead of reformatting ..I ust went to wally world and bought a new laptop and got a great deal..$348.00 is what that virus cost me and we had McAfee up to date on the computer..so the lesson is be very careful what you click when a window opens..these virus programs immitate all of the various Virus Scan companies and once you click to close the window or fix the problem you install all of the viruses...it is disgusting this goes on...but what can you do ? Just be aware.
See if you can boot into safe mode "press f8" at bootup.
Then choose safe mode with command prompt.
This will load up safe mode without any of the startup items (virus).
Should load a blinking cursor command prompt.
Then run system restore (depends on if your on xp/vista/win7 on the command).
xp type this %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
vista/win 7 type this rstrui.exe
or c:\windows\system\restore\rstrui.exe
I had this same virus/trojan a few weeks back. I got it by visiting a random joke website. I knew when I picked up the virus so I rolled back to about 1 hour before I got it. Once the system was restored I ran trendmicro housecall. Its a free app updated daily which will help remove viruses.
HouseCall - Free Online Virus Scan - Trend Micro USA
Good Luck!
I'm fairly certain that the infection the OP is talking about infects the system restore points. If you run restore, you just re-infect yourself.
My wife's computer is virus-free again. I used malwarebytes and installed it according to easy instructions here. How to remove XP Security Tool 2010, XP Defender Pro, and Vista Security Tool 2010 (Uninstall Guide)

Those kind of stories make me sick. I have probably gained 20 pounds by eating all of the cookies and cakes(I won't take money) that I have been given for resurrecting PCs that were deemed incurable or broken by "professional" computer repair outfits. It is not that the computer is incurable. It is that they cannot cure it and make a profit. Big difference. They should be up front about that.
