weight you put on the front tires while lifting something heavy with the 3ph to keep the front tires down or weight you put on the 3ph to keep the back tires on the ground when lifting with the fel

When you add front weights, wheel weights, rear ballast box, fill the tires with fluid, et cetera - it's all considered ballast; measures that add to the design weight of the tractor to counterbalance additional loads on the front or rear of the tractor and/or improve traction

Oh alright. i was just wondering. I have a ford 5000 with FEL . Not very familiar with everything on tractors but getting better each day. It says the operating weight is 5,865 pounds and the ballasted weight is 9,700 pounds. Im just trying to figure out what category it fits in

I believe that the tractor is to never have a weight in excess of 9700lbs, that counts 3pt implement, loader, wheel weights etc. ;)

Tractor's shipping weight is just that- weight as shipped.
Operating weight is including all fluids (possibly operator too, not sure)
Ballasted weight is operating weight plus added ballast, whether it be front weights, wheel weights, water in tires, etc.

So unless your tractor has added ballast, it weighs 5865 plus the weight of your FEL.

My B7800 weighs 1700 pounds dripping wet. For snow season the tires are filled, the loader is on, the ballast box is on, and the tire chains are on. This adds an additional 1800 pounds. The ballast now weighs more than the tractor.
