After owning my Grand L3540 for the past 10 months, I can honestly say that I am completely satisfied with this machine. I have collected several attachments for both the FEL and the 3pt which are all coming in very handy around our 3.5 acre lot.

One thing that I am looking to add is a canopy, but I have a slight problem. The garage door where the tractor is stored currently affords me about 1/4" of clearance for the ROPS. Does anyone know of a canopy that will NOT add any height to my tractor? Pictures or links would be much appreciated.

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving to all!

If you can't find one, we had our ROPS shortened and added a very hard and heavy canopy on our MF 375.

Is the garage door a flip-up style? In other words, it is one piece that pivots out of the way.

If it is you may consider a roll up sectional door. They tend to give the whole height of the door frame.

Finding something that will only add less than 1/4" will be a challenge. You could weld on 1/8" flat plate (somewhat like TripleR did) but it would be heavy and not very attractive.

Metal tops tend to get hot in the sun and need some insulation. That is how the L48 is set up. You may want to look at that type of canopy as well.

what I did with the canopy my bx24 is to modify and mount/weld the brackets for the canopy lower on the rops. The back of the canopy is mounted on the front of the rops and covers just beyond the back of the seat. I did not add any height to the machine I am not sure if this would work with you.

Roma,

Any chance you can send a picture?

Thanks,

When I built my garage I put in two doors, one 8' high and the second 10'. My 4240 clears the 8' with about 3/4 to 1" to spare without a canopy before I installed the weatherstripping (since then I haven't tried). Each time I drove through it I would go very slowly just in case. I think if you are that close you'll not want to add anything to the height.

Are you handy with tools? If so maybe you could cut the canopy in two and mount each section it like roma said, part on the front and part on the rear of the ROPS.

This canopy can be mounted in front of the Rops..

Well built for the $$$. Very satisfied w mine...I've knocked off a few trees and yes even the garage..Still holding up fine, No cracks.

But highly recommend lowering the rops...1/4 isn't alot of room....I took 3: off mine...

I added the forward support brackets, for trailering with the canopy still mounted...

I think I have the same canopy as Firefighter Kubota. I have had this thing for about four yeas now and never a single problem with it. I did not put any support in the front and it has never caused a problem with sagging.

I thought I would be taking it off in the summer, but never have done that.

No worries of sagging, but I tow mine and could see how it would fold back if loaded forward , had I not installed the forward braces..,,,Also gives me mounts, for lights and I also installed a marine radio....

I plan to plexiglass or make a clear view window up front and a marine awning surround...All in time...
