What is it with chinese rubber? Can't stand that smell, whenever I pick up a new HF item with rubber it spends a mandatory week or two on the back porch before it comes inside..much of the smell dissipates in that time frame.

That is the smell of the rubber curing. When they no longer smell is when the rubber begins to dissolve and crumble. Their rubber tiedown straps are the perfect example. Never, never, never buy those things. They are flat out dangerous. But, on the bright side I now have a large supply of cheap "S" hooks.

Harbor Freight has just opened a new store only 15 min. from my home..Uh Oh...

Look on the bright side. Everytime you go in there, you can bring home a free flashlight with a coupon. Also, sometimes they sell those free LED flashlights in sets of two with batteries for $1.99. If I had an HF as close as you, I'd have a flashlight in every pocket and one hanging around my neck. I just can't resist...

Have a store about that close to me too. But I don't have any problem getting out of there with but a few items. Don't like buying things at auctions either. Usually I regret it when I get home a go to use the items.

It really depends, I needed some 1"+ wrenches and picked up a mixed group of about 7 Craftsman, Proto, SK and some unknowns at an auction for less than the price of one of the Craftsman wrenches. I would much rather have those than the really low tolerance stuff you get a HF. I do see people all the time paying retail or higher for used stuff at auctions.
