Having the new mower and tractor should work out well for you, much better than fooling with the mmm on your tractor. I know I was a supporter of your getting a separate mower and practice what I preach in getting the 4520 and X749. I am betting you will be glad you did.

I think the tractor looks great but I noticed you bought floating forks and was wondering why?

You were a source that very much influenced my decision. I'm already glad I ditched the MMM.

I'm not really sure why I got floating forks....if I recall correctly that was what the dealer had and I did not yet have an opinion....I do now! I wouldn't get them if I had to do over again. Too much clanking when transporting empty, and you can't control their pitch on a forward slope as I'd like. I found it difficult to get out from under a tree trunk since the forks stayed level to the ground! :smiley_aafz: Might have to rig somethin' for this....

Any suggestions (other than tradin' in)?

See if the dealer will take them back, and get a set of Chris Perry Forks, They are much more suited to your tractor size.

Long thread also on them here: Lightweight pallet forks for 200X & 200CX loader - TractorByNet.com

I agree with Kenny that the lighter forks would be more appropriate for your tractor.

If you can't exchange them then I would consider adding a heavy rail to the bottom tubing and heavy duty hooks to hold the tines in close to the rail. This would work as long as you can change the width settings presently with the tines in the down position. Not sure how your tines lock in place now.

I have the Worksite Pro 48" rail pallet forks that are non floating, they work great.

Hey, we told you so!

Hey yall,
I promised pics when it arrived.

Note - I originally ordered MMM with this unit, but told them to keep it when I learned of need to remove/re-install MMM-bracket to accommodate backhoe.

Great to see your 2720 got there and what a nice machine!! Guess your just a week newer than mine!! Yes I promised pics but have been in court for most of last week and will be there all of this week also But I will post the pics I took.

Can you tell me more about having to remove the mmm brackets to mount a back hoe? My plan is to get a 46 as soon as I can afford it and my dealer was fully aware of this but never mentioned that fact. I will be pretty pissed if that is the case

As I posted on page 1, the JD forks are super heavy, and kill the ability of your 2720 to lift a heavy load. If you put lighter (more your tractors size) forks on, you would be able to lift 200-300 Lbs. MORE, simply because the JD forks are so heavy. I had a set of heavy forks, and they made my 2520 useless compared to the ones i have now. I love the light forks!

Hey Wooden, congrats to you too! I actually like this machine more than I thought I would. I am personally pleased with it's power when pushing downed trees/logs in the woods.

MMM/Backhoe woes! See link below;

Have you used the MMM yet? Maybe they'd take it back if you purchased a lawn tractor.

Well to the say the least, you, Jenkinsph and Kennyd have me skeemin' already. While I don't think dealer will take them back (but gonna find out), wonder how difficult and where would I start to sell these at?

Really liked them Chris Perry forks Kennyd:thumbsup:
