"I have to admit though, if it is a pedophile or rapist then all bets are off."

Your right. I have a 9 year old son and all I do is worry. I worry about his future, his tax burden, his health, his education, his being bullied at school, his homework, but all that takes a back seat to any harm some adult might desire to inflict on him. Its one of a few times I am willing to die to change the outcome.

I can fully understand as I have had my car broken into with my 2 way radio stolen, house broken into twice and yes once by breaking in my steel security door. I lost guns, cameras, binoculars, knives etc and would have lost more if my son, who was on leave from Navy contraband interdiction missions, had not come in on them and chased them off with a couple of .45's he was able to get out of the safe. There was a trail of dropped stuff out the door up into the woods, but they still managed to get away with a lot of stuff.

I also had a contract out on me for a couple of years with more than one attempt to fulfill it. One of the perpetrators is doing life without the possibility of parole and the other is dead though not by my hand. I spoke with both of them after they were caught, "Nothing personal man; just business." I had no desire to torture or kill them though came close prior to their apprehension when we were looking for them.

I have no problem with people suffering the consequences of their actions, but do not go along with torture or killing after the fact when no one's life is in danger. I keep a gun on me or within easy reach at all times and will not hesitate to use it, but only to protect my life/safety or the life/safety of others. I spent my carer enforcing the law and cannot justify breaking it nor would I encourage others to do so.

I have to admit though, if it is a pedophile or rapist then all bets are off.

What if they bust in your house and take all your son's Christmas presents? And all you have bought for your wife and some of your guns? What if the police can't find it, but you can at the pawn shops? What if you go show the police and they do nothing?

Just to buy some more crank.

I know it's not the police's fault, their hands are tied. But there has to be some justice. I didn't mean I would actually let ants kill them, Just seems maybe the justice system should stop slapping wrist. Yes I'm pissed about it.

Yea, put'em in the corner and talk to'em real mean. Harm their self image by calling them party poopers.

P.S. I'm a huge goof and a smart a**. Take nothing I type seriously unless I'm asking about tractors, and then only sometimes. :confused2:

Once again you impress me with your words As bad as our judicial system is擁t is what it is?o without it, we would be way worse off. Yes for stiffer penalties and taking all rights away from those convicted including their life?orture might be them caring out their sentence for the rest of their lives. As I have heard on the TV cowboy movies---- you are welcome at my camp fire anytime..

Thank you and same here.

Fully understood and I think we can all agree on that.

I know what you mean, the people who robbed me were not punished. Although some items were recovered, there was insufficient evidence to prosecute. Sadly we all know of instances like that and yes it pi---es me off too, but I am not prepared for each of us meting out "justice" as we see fit. We recently had a young man in my county released from prison after serving 17 years in prison on a murder charge. Investigation by a newly elected Sheriff and DNA testing proved without a doubt he was not only "not guilty", but in a judicial rarity, the presiding judge declared him innocent.

I agree with you on "slapping wrists" and other problems with the criminal justice system, but I just don't know how to fix it or if my idea of a "fix" would be worse than the problem. As always, just my opinion.

Its their alter-ego. In reality, they have a 2 page honey-do list. Did you iron the curtains yet, Scruffy?

And, when you reveal what you HAVE done, they are in complete disbelief...

Really don't know where you are going with this comment but I don't wear women's panties like you. You can always tell the lefties, they want to cry out for help and expect someone to tell them it will be ok.

Living in the country we get meth heads from time to time as others mentioned experiencing break-ins. The police can only do so much and most times the criminal is out of jail before the officer is off duty. They just simply don't last to long in the area I live, they just leave. I guess??? All I am going to say about that....

... You can always tell the lefties, ....

Come on Scruffy, there are plenty of lefties driving tractors, I bet more than you imagine. Are you 'agin' us? Sure I got guns, know how to operate them as well, not sure I could use against another human for stealing, but you never know until you have been there I guess. I like the idea of putting folks in prison for a long time and I don't really care what it does to their self esteem.

Doall,
I did go to the local pawn shop & did find some of my camera outfit. Unfortunately, I didn't have any real proof of ownership. Stock Canon lenses, so I didn't have serial numbers, the camera bodies, & the "special" lenses, (300mm, 400mm, 1200mm zoom) I had, so I got those back after 2 yrs of waiting. All needed to be overhauled. None of which was covered by my homeowners, since the property was recovered. The pawnshop had put them to the side in an area to be checked by the PD. The jewelry, & the electronics I never saw again. Homeowners covered that but my rates went up by 1/3. :confused3:
I was very lucky that he didn't find my guns, but they were in a gun safe bolted to the concrete basement floor. :drink: or on a handy lockbox. The .44 mag was in that in fact. The PD was very happy about the gun safe, not so much with the lock box. The PD did try to take my .44 mag as evidence, nut they couldn't b/c I hadn't fired it. If I had the they would have taken it. I doubt I would've seen it again. That County had a firearm reduction policy, that destroyed any firearm used in connection with any crime and the market value paid to the registered owner. That policy is STILL being contested under the 2nd amendment after 20 yrs. The gun is a Stainless S&W .44 automag, 9" barrel, compensator, flash suppressor, extended magazine, & laser sight, a collectors item even then & NFS now or ever. :cloud9:

I seriously thought about shooting the guy stealing the presents. He & me, alone in my living room, my then girlfriend upstairs on the phone to 911, my word against his, & he DID have a box cutter. "Honest officer he came at me with that knife. I had to shoot him." Very plausible, the thing that stopped me was my Xmas tree. He was standing in front of it & with a 350 gr copper jacketed hollow point at about 8 ft he would have been all over it, & the wall behind it, possibly through the plaster, block & brick, & maybe even across the street. He's very lucky he backed down immediately. It would've ruined ALL future Christmas's for his kids. :confused2:

Trafficman, that is a very difficult situation in which to find yourself and I am glad you came out of it alright. In Missouri, we have what is essentially a "Castle Doctrine Law", so no questions would be asked if the perpetrator of a home invasion is killed.

I won't bore anyone with anecdotes, but no one knows how taking a life will affect them and hopefully most never will. I have known people who have done so without significant problems while it has ruined the lives of others though their actions were fully justified. My opinion is that an individual forfeits all rights to life upon illegally entering into a home and will lose no sleep over their demise, but the larger question is how will the homeowner deal with his actions and what will the legal repercussions be?

My daughter could not sleep in our home for months after our burglary. I can only imagine how she would have reacted to the death of someone in our home. What would our family reunions be like, all seated around where a man had died trying to enjoy a meal? Could we ignore that while we laughed and played with our grand children?

One of my sons is a former Sailor who did contraband interdiction and counter terrorism work and later was in the Army with the 82nd Airborne and then a Police Officer and now Firearms Instructor and Trainer. He places a great deal of emphasis on the whole aspect of taking a life and the psychological impact. I understand many on here are not serious and are only venting, but your example shows we can easily be confronted with a life or death situation no matter how careful we are and all of this needs to be considered beforehand. I also strongly encourage anyone who owns firearms for self defense to take a course whether you intend to carry concealed or not as it will really be of value in your decision making, continuum of force options/rationale as well as possibly letting you make it through the lega aftermath without going to jail or osing everything in a lawsuit. Now off of my soapbox.

I did not know Canon had a 1200mm zoom. I know they had a 1200mm lens that sold for tens of thousands was about 3 feet long, it was typically rented out.

Hands on with the Canon EF 1200 f5.6L Lens on Vimeo if you want to see it.

I'm disgusted by this thread.

It feels like I'm caught in the boy's room with weirdos. Scary!

Rule of Law is what separates the USA from crap governments worldwide. Any of you crackers advocating "frontier" justice need to consider what happens if this witch burn attitude turns on your sorry rears.

Please, if this site wants to advocate membership drives for the KKK or any other form of justice without due process, I'm out of here.

Last I looked, the owners of this site are not named Smith or Jones. You cowboys want to extend your hatred toward them as well? Where does it stop?

Get a grip! Educate yourselves and god bless America for all that is correct. The most virulent voice against gay people all too frequently turn out to be closet gays. You self righteous hateful voices wanting to torture thieves need to look in your rear view mirrors. You never stole anything? Good Lord!

Flame me and you flame yourselves.

Peace and Love
