I recognize the Phantom, Intruder and the Corsair, but the first two in the bottom row are a bit before my time.

A3D (Skywarrior, IIRC) and F-14 Tomcat (which replaced the F-4 Phantom)...

Roy, I don't think that is a Tomcat. I've seen them before (I launched them till my ears bled...lol) Notice the single tail fin...

Could if be an F111 Thud..

Wasn't that called the Aardvark?? Early 60's?

Oops-- guess the Aardvark was the F-111.... sorry! Not a carrier guy (a groundpounder), just an airplane nut....

Close, but the other is a RA5C Viglante....50,000 pounds same weight as the A3 Whale but used for Reconisance. Quite an afterburner...
Let's see whom can guess the Big plane????? It's not ours...It was escorted by one of ours as it was checking out our flight ops...

I was on the FDR CVA42. I was one of the guys that would get you up to speed so that you guys could take off and land. I was in #1 engine room at the end of my stay. I remember the plane in the last picture of the group of pictures. There were also a small fighter that I liked and I think it was a A3D or A4D. In the group of pictures it looks like one of them coming in for a landing. Am I right? When I went on they still were running prop planes.

It was an F-8. Had to be careful hooking up the bridle on that baby without getting sucked into the intake...

There was word that a E7 got sucked into it when I was there, I don't know for sure if that is true or not. That's not the plane I'm talking about, the one I'm thinking of is real small, intakes was above the wings on each side. How did you like the way the wings would come up in front on the F8?
Also I remember the bomber in the 3rd from last picture.
