Howdy,

Pardon my newness to such things, my wife and I, who are teachers by trade, have bought 40 acres and are moving to it this spring. That is God willing and the creek don/t rise.

At auction today I bought a Bolens G152 for 1700, which I think is a good deal. It has about 8000 hours on it. (It also came with a moderately sized mowing deck.)

I think the first thing I will need to get is a (used) implement for tilling.

What do you all recommend?

8000? Are you sure you don't mean 800? Yikes:confused2:

I have read that ~8000 hrs is the typical life span of a diesel engine. Certainly some engines go longer and some are shorter, but at 8000 it is not a spring chicken.

A tiller like I have in my signature line should work well for you. It is a 48" tiller, so it will cover your tire tracks well(as your tractor is 45 inches wide).
I noticed that you have 3 PTO speeds, use the lowest setting as the tiller is designed for 540 rpm.

I also noticed that your tractor is designed for Cat.0 or Cat. 1 implements, I would stick with Category 1 implements. That way if you get another small tractor in the future, the implement will work.

Perhaps that's why he got such a good deal! ;)
