Bobcat was owned by Ingersoll Rand up until a few years ago when they sold the Bobcat line to a Korean company. It seems like Doosan is there name but I am not 100% on that.
I am also not sure if Bobcat was owned by someone else before IR had them either.
They started out as Melroe Manufacturing. Ingersoll-Rand bought them out years back and then changed the name to Bobcat. They were sold in 2007 to Doosan Infracore of South Korea.
I heard once that Kubota wasn't happy with Bobcat getting into the CUT market. As long as Bobcat used Kubota engines in their skid loaders Kubota wasn't going to build a skid loader. Kubota came out with a tracked skid loader this year that some believed was motivated by Bobcat selling CUT. Don't know if all of that is true but would make sense.
