ray66v - good post - I didn't claim that all fit my generalization and understand that many educated rational people are skeptics of man's responsibility.- I'm confident though that many do fit that group

Meteorologists and Climate Scientists are different creatures. Daily weather forecasters do not in general study the big picture.

It's climatologists vs. TV forecasters on global warming | StarTribune.com

Climatologists, who study weather patterns over time, almost universally endorse the view that the Earth is warming and that humans have contributed to climate change. There is less of a consensus among meteorologists, who predict short-term weather patterns.

Colbert Report: Science catfight, climatologist vs meteorologist - National Energy | Examiner.com

Why is it that 90% of climatologists believe that global warming is caused by humans, while only 31% of meteorologists do. The simple answer to that questions is that climatologists look at long term climate patterns, and meteorologists look at short term trends.

Data.GISS: GISS Surface Temperature Analysis (GISTEMP) - I have trouble accepting the claim that this data has been cooked for enough years to negate the trends. (it does seem that ice is melting)

With thousands of temperatures recorded over many years it is not unusual to have some problems.

My problem may be that I studied a little science - it seems that there was a time when much of the CO2 that is currently locked in fossil fuels was in the atmosphere. Humans would not have survived too well at that time. Why should we believe that we could release every bit of those gases without consequences?

There are powerful forces that support the status quo - drill baby drill - and clearly support and fuel the skeptics. But as compelling to me is that we become energy independent so that we aren't trading young men and women for cheap gas.

I know the older I get, the narrower my comfort range. Below 40°F is too cold, above 75°F too hot. I'm turning into a grouchy old man:D

While I am registered at different forums, it seems that a simple post generates the most controversy on almost every post, it starts out simple and winds up going in an entirely different direction.

Am I concerned about the climate change in my lifetime, absolutely not, am I concerned about my kid's & grand kids, yes, but there are bigger & worst things taking place now that will affect even my life.

Fear mongering - there have always been and will likely always be conspiracy theorists and those whose choose to live in fear.

Naaaa, older we get we find out we like comfort compare to speed..that's all. ;)

A little more global warming and you can kiss the citrus industry goodbye in Florida.

The Florida citrus industry wont be around long enough for global warming to do it in. I can still remember the smell of citrus blooming, but it is getting harder and harder to find it.

I will not debate whether there is warming or not, there may very well be. My point of contention is that man is the cause of the climate changing.

The differing opinions of climatologists and meteorologists can be simply explained by the fact that one group gets paid more to study it, if they find global warming, and the other gets paid the same either way. If you follow the money, you will always find the answer.

Yes, evidence shows ice in some places receding, it does also show ice growing in others. This suggests there are other factors involved besides air just temperatures.

The best and brightest, studying this will occasionally admit there is a lot they just don't know.

The argument that our use of oil, I will not call it fossil fuel because that is another hoax, and subsequent release of CO2 HAS to have some effect on the atmosphere is a popular one. But, considering total volume it is minuscule.

The "experts" I know, insist the historical records show it will have to go over 500 ppm before it even START to have an effect. At which time, they expect plant life to have a field day, (literally), and bring it back down.

In the mean time, examples of natures resiliency, like the gulf oil spill continue to occur, much to the dismay of the environmental extremists.

I truly appreciate your opinion, however we can agree to disagree

You can always sell your cars, tractors, BBQ, lawnmower, and any other pollution devices, that way you could do your part to slow down this global warming thing you believe in.

IF you truly believe in this theory ;)
