Racor filter on a bx24

I have used the Racor 120 series on both the suction and pressure side. They are rated to around 7 psi and the little electric pumps on the Kubotas will not deliver more than that. If it is easier to install on the pressure side then don't hesitate. And is a good filter worth while, absolutely even on these small tractors. A IP overhaul on your Kubota is as expensive as you 400hp Cat or cummins running the same style pump. Also these tractors tend to be fueled from less than desirable containers alot of the time.
Install and be confident that you have the best protection possible for a reasonable cost.

Well folks I finally for the bx24 back from the dealer, had to have 2 of the 4 steel lines from the loader control block replaced. That being finished I took the time to install the filter unit. I made up a small bracket and was abel to stuff it in the engine compartment just to the left of the injector pump and below the intake. I had to replace one of the metric bolts on the bracket (under the hood) that holds the fuel filter assy with a longer one to accomodate the bracket I made up for the racor. I wound up running two fuel lines from the racor back underneath the machine so I could pick up the suction side of the tank as well as the fuel pump side. I then ran all of these lines back up to the filter so I could have the filter running from the suction side. Although I have a few more rubber lines to look after and more hose clamps to keep tightend I think it turned out ok. I am going to post a few pics, all in all it was not that bad, the brass fittings almost cost more than the filter itself :(.

Thanks much for the pictures! I was thinking one might fit in that spot and am grateful that someone else went to the trouble to prove it.

Did you consider moving the fuel pump into the engine compartment instead of running the fuel lines to the pump and back?

Yeah i did want to relocate the pump would have made it easier however the machine is still under warranty and I didnt want to go to far with changing stuff.
As far as the fittings goes I found them at the local home depot in the plumbing isle i believe they are 1/4 threads

Thanks. I can appreciate that! It looks as though I'll not be able to fit mine in that location as my block heater will be in the way. Though not as clean, I think I may put one in a similar position to the loader valves along with a toolbox on the left side. We shall see...

Any spots on the other side of the block for the heater? If you give me an idea on how far the heater sticks out of the block I can take a look for you. My bx has the luxury of a heated garage so I did'nt have the element to contend with.

If you install it on the rops near the bottom you will need less hose; you will be able to attach a drain hose to the base of the filter to drain away the water and crud the filter collects.

Thanks for the offer to look for me! I'm not to concerned about the cold. I even go out to run around for a few hours at a time in it just for fun (and exercise)!
There may well be a place on the other side of the block that would work well for the heater, but I just put it in the hole I was told to. It was a pretty easy spot to access. The interesting part of that job, as others have noted, is draining the coolant. I may put the filter outside the cowling anyway as this location will give me an easy view of the water bowl, but I will put further consideration into putting it in the same location as yours and on the ROPS as Leonz has suggested.
