Jackin' up an F350.....

all depends on where my truck decides to throw a tire, what options I have to pull over.. ie.. embankment, unpaved shoulder, paved shoulder.. etc.. that makes the difference where I place my jack so it's safe for me to be working near it.

Mind you.. on the rears it ain't so bad.. unless you loose an inside rear and have to pull both.. if just an outside rear.. safety factor goes way up.

front / rear makes a big difference too as to what the jack goes under, in accordance with the above statement...

I suppose you could actually use (2) 2x's under your truck flat, pull up on them and then stick yours in...BobG in VA

Just a quick note for all you folks with 3/4 and 1ton trucks together with whatever size trailers/tractors that you put on the trailers. I was at Harbor Freight yesterday and picked up a 12 ton bottle jack on sale for $30....I've got an F350 diesel and tried to jack up the rear (empty bed) with the pathetic jack that was included under the seat...what a pain...I put the bottle jack under it today and effortlessly took it off the ground...not a sermon, just a thought for Christmas. I bought a 2 ton bottle jack on yellow tag clearance at HF for something like $6. It would work. Its fairly short and theres no way the back or fron t of your truck will weigh 4K lbs!!

Yep but you need a larger suspention or body lift to get that taller rubber stuffed under there!

What about a dually truck with a gooseneck trailer attached? Or a large equipment trailer.

I've seen that happen with travel trailers, too. The ones I've encountered had tandem axles, so I was able to put blocks under a wheel, pull forward onto the blocks and then get the jack under the axle. I guess you could do the same with a single axle RV or pickup.

That works (-:
I have about a 4ft length of laminated truss board, 14 x 2 that I carry around for the trailers.
That and a triangular rubber wheel chock builds a custom ramp for rolling the good wheel up, "custom" to adjust for whatever surface incline I'm on.
The board also doubles as a parking pad for the trailer, saves driveway dents and sinking in soft ground.
I won't trust those plastic trailer-aid things on dirt, just too wobbly if I have horses getting impatient - and they do, if the trailer stops they expect to get out.
I recently got a pair of plastic ramps from AutoZone, supposedly 6 ton rating with 17 degree wedge angle, which is sharp enough to drive my daughter;s low slung (& now sagging) mini van up onto.
I'll probably carry those around too.

Merry Christmas...my F350 weighs 6000 lbs WITHOUT the 38 gallons of diesel, plus the gooseneck trailer...(dead in the center of the bed) that weighs 4500 lbs EMPTY, plus the weight of whatever tractor/car/truck, etc that happens to be on it...sooooo....yeah, it'll weigh way more than a measly 4K lbs....PS: the gooseneck hitch is good for 30,000 lbs...soooo, I may be OK with just 12 ton....BobG in VA

That has to be the lightest F-350 in the world. Heck, my Nissan Titan weighs 5,600#.

I have had 2 F-350's. Both were SRW 4x4 Diesels. The 7.3L one was a regular cab long bed and weighed 7,200# and my current 6.0L short bed extended cab weighs 7,600#. That is with 3/4 tank of fuel in each but either way thats over 1,000# heavier than you say.

Heck, even my 05 Dmax 4x4 weighed over 7,000#

By the way a friends dually F-350 6.0 4x4 weighs about 7,800#.
