Battery Tenders......

Yup exactly right those are the ones I refer to the HF Chicago electric power systems item # 42292. I happen to have a box right here to look at they are working real good so far a good value seems like for chinese junk!

I use the same ones, they've worked for me for years! They are not going to charge a "dead" battery overnight, that's not what they're made for, but they keep them "up" without overcharging! Also have a couple of John Deere "push mower" chargers that do the same thing, made very similar to the HF ones. ~~ grnspot110

The Battery Tender "Plus" I've been using for a couple years on my late wifes Crown Victoria. .... paid about $50 for it thru a catalog source. Then I bought a Schumacher from a different catalog source....paid $42 for it. Yesterday I saw the Walmart Schumacher for $21. Now, you all say HF has something for $5. What a spread! Anyway, I use the Tender and the Schumacher by rotating them between two automobile and two tractor batteries ( I bring the tractor batteries into the garage for the winter....but have to reinstall them as needed).....I always do things the hard way. Oh yeah.....I saw a "Kubota" labeled maintainer at the dealership .....it was $60. They are all made in China.....where else!:(

I rotate one Battery Tender Plus amongst 3 bikes, 1 plow truck, and 1 tractor. Occasional charging is really all that is needed. I've been doing it this way for years with excellent results.

x5 for Battery Tender brand. Got the jr. model around $25. Put the ring connectors on the batt, ran the 2 prong plug outside the batt compartment to right in front of the cab. Hook up the tender and put it on the tractor step so I don't forget to unhook it. Has LED light that tells you if you are hooked up right, batt is below 80%, or if a maintenance charge is going in.

Battery Tender brand seem to be better built with larger gauge cables and come with permanent battery connectors and clip on style connectors. I use these for my tractors (permanent battery connectors) which are in a barn. For the classic cars and motorcycles in the garage I use cheaper Schumacher and Sears models.

Another vote here for the Battery Tender brand. I have 4 of them and I am looking at getting a fifth. Eventually, I'll have one for each piece of equipment. No more rotating.

Hey guys merry christmas,
My wife got me this for my two atvs.Ive got a couple questions i cant find answers to in the instructions.
1] It has screw mount holes on it to hook it to something. Can i bolt it upside down to the ceiling in my atv shed?
2]It says dont mount it above your battery.Does that mean dont put it near or on top of ,or can i not do a ceiling permenent mount?
3]it says plug in the 110 volt plug last? WHY?If this is the case ill need to put a switch ahead of the outlet in the ceiling
Ijust thought having it perminant overhead the atvs ,with some hooks to hang the cords on would be convienant. It came with battery clamps or quick disconnects, ill use the latter, for a perminant connection for the machines. She bought it new on an ebay site,i have no idea how much. Now i have to buy her one for her two atvs for her birthday:thumbsup:note alot of women want girly things ,MELINDAS passion is her atvs:)
Any advice on a nice perminant install is wanted

ALAN

1) Probably not a good thing to mount it that close to the ceiling because it gets hot up there in the summer.
2) They want you to keep it away from the corrosive enviroment near the battery which is not good for electrical/electronic stuff..
3) Probably they don't want you to create sparks near the battery. Most 'Jump' instructions tell you to connect the ground somewhere away from the battery last.
Merry Christmas...!!!!!
